What did we learn Illinois edition

Got some people laughing at me in the game thread, but Matt Rhule’s game and time management is awful. Starting to wonder if Carolina is the norm and not Baylor.
What good does game and time management do you when you dont have a kicker who can make a 25 yard field goal?  On the list of dumb af things we saw tonight, the time management doesnt even crack the top 10 on concerns but continue to stand on your soap box and yell!

Tony White has lost his shine. These off tackle plays where the end fails to set the edge is coaching.  Bad penalties is partially coaching. Not getting off the field in the 3rd quarter. Blown coverages near the goal line. Confusion in the secondary.

Illinois basically did what they wanted all game long.

I am not going to poke at the players even though I thought the D-line played sub-par, but in this case, Tony White got chewed up and out-coached. Illinois did not look this good the first three weeks which raised my eyebrow based on what I saw. I will be checking for quotes, but it appears they prepared all offseason for this game. When I tell you they had an answer for every alignment and look, they literally had an answer for everything we did on Defense. It's not about the players here. The players kept us in the game but we got schooled schematically. The players needed to make a play to save the staff and they didn't.

What we had to choose from on offense tonight:

Raiola throwing: 35 times, 8.1 yards per attempt

RJohnson running: 4 times, 4.3 yards per attempt

RJohnson receiving: 2 times, 7.0 yards per attempt

What did we do the second-most times (after Raiola throwing)?  Have Dowdell run it 20 times.  All of 3.6 yards per attempt.

But, by all means, if something isn't working, keep banging your head against the wall.

We should have kept running the ball on 3rd and 3 after we were having success on that drive. Nebraska is horrible at situational play calling.
When we have a generational talent at QB and drew up a play to get a guy wide open in the end zone? Cmon man. Literally drew up a td play and we couldn't execute. We went down and scored to go ahead at the end of the half then we killed almost 7 minutes at the end of the game and drew up the perfect play to go ahead with a minute to go essentially. Things weren't perfect but the players were in a position to win and did not execute.

Tbere should have been a penalty on Illinois in OT.  They had no problems calling penalties on Nebraska.  But crappy kicking and OT performance doom Nebraska again.  6 wins is probably the ceiling for this team now.

Indiana’s offensive staff is licking their chops after seeing how undisciplined this defense is against RPO looks

Rutgers staff is kicking their chops seeing power running game can get easy YAC and play action off that will be there all day due to hero ball by the secondary

OSU, who everyone was eying is just laughing

As I’ve said all summer EJ should be RB1

Mazzccua needs to play no matter who he pissed off, since he’s the only OLine guy that actually plays pissed off and with a fire

Satt, even after calling great drives, will always out coaches himself

The hype hopefully was beaten the hell out of this team tonight
