There sure is a lot of "patience" on X and message boards. And that is what the guys see.  That is what I'm talking about.  I'm not talking about the blue hairs that show up to every game come rain or shine.

It's the constant b!^@hing about everything.  Just look at the topics right now on this message board.  If you dare, look at Red Sea Scrolls right now.  Those are the "fans" i'm talking about.  And those fans, absolutely have a negative affect on the program.

And yes, I agree that other teams have the same crap, but they haven't endured the nonstop, "fire everyone once something doesn't go as planned" for 20 years, and the powers that be actually doing that.

If you can't see that part of it, then I'm not sure this program will ever rise above it.

I honestly think coaches work their asses off, take their work home with them, lose sleep about it, and are always aware that a million online fans and professional second-guessers are watching their every move.
I mean, I get it, they "work hard" but come on...HS coaches do the same gig AND teach classes and have lunch duty and set up for practice and have locker room duty and so on.

As far as the annoying fans (us) well, that is clearly a totally different animal.    With that said, I have had a mom email me once, demanding a monday morning meeting and at that meeting she demanded to know why her son did not play in our season opener.

At the end of the meeting she also asked me to never let her son know that we had met.  Because he would be "embarrassed"

I bet Coach Rhule doesn't have to deal with that!!!

Soup, i encourage you to take a step back.  Go read football forums from some other schools that have tradition.  Nebraska fans aren't that unique man.  Clemson fan boards are constantly calling for coaches heads.  Oklahoma fans are constantly calling for coaches heads.  Texas, etc...  Even Alabama has been calling for coordinators to be fired each of the last 10 years at one point or another.

THE FANS ARE NOT THE REASON OUR TEAMS HAVE UNDERPERFORMED.

If anything, the fan support gives Nebraska a very real edge in NIL money.

And this has been the case since we joined the Big 10.  So 4 coaching staffs all suck?  Maybe, just maybe there is more to the issue than it being just players and/or coaches.

Maybe, it has to do with the unrealistic expectations of all the fans that think the 90s can happen again, and we just need to fire all the coaches until that happens.
Huh? The fans are not coaching the team. Just because the fans long for the 90s that doesn’t change how the coaches coach and the players play. You think we got pounded by Indiana cause our fans want to be good again? Yes the coaching staffs have sucked. Riley sucked, frost sucked. Do you think they were good?

I keep seeing that no one expects the 90s anymore.  Yet how many of you can't believe we just lost to Indiana and Illinois. We should have curb stomped Rutgers they suck. Those should have been cake walks.  You're out there.  The football landscape has changed.
Soup, that isn't unique to Nebraska.  It happens literally everywhere with past winning traditions.  Those programs forever consider themselves better...  the crazy thing is in our case we are right, or at least we should be.  We have more than double the income of Indiana or Illinois.  We have consistently out recruited both of them for ever.  It isn't crazy, as fans, to expect us to beat those teams on a regular basis.

The loss to Illinois was one thing, while unfortunate, it was a close fought game and Illinois is a top 25 team. I'm not upset about that one.

The loss to Indiana was inexcusable in its scale. It's not that they lost, it's how they lost. We lose similarly to Indiana like we did Illinois, completely different story. What happened Saturday was inexcusable for a game where we were expected to be competitive.

Exactly. I seriously remember a few years ago Tennessee was the laughing stock of coaching hires and fires. The term dumpster fire comes to mind. They finally got a good coach and off they go

I agree, but they also had back to back top 10 recruiting classes during Heupels first two years.  That always helps.

I think we have the coach.  We just don't completely have the Jimmies and Joes yet, or we do, but they are freshmen or RS freshmen.

I agree we have the right coach in Rhule. I think some of the assistants are not top notch. Satterfield has underperformed pretty much everywhere he has been. So just to clarify I like Rhule. But the staff needs tightened up. Dabo made changes early in his tenure and after he did they took off

I'm not sure I'm there yet.  Satterfield, was in a no win situation last year with the personnel.  This year he has some talent, but very young.

Is there an OC out there that has overperformed pretty much everywhere? If so, who?

Can we all just take a minute, sit back, and enjoy that this man is blaming the horrible Nebraska football performances not on the coaches being paid millions of dollars, not on the highly recruits athletes, but on the fans?

This might be the worst take I have ever seen regarding football, ever.

I don’t follow college football that close to know who a good candidate would be. I just know when Satterfield was announced South Carolina was excited. Just like UCF celebrated chinander. Very similar reactions from previous fan bases.

can we both agree 18 points a game is not acceptable if you want to win games?

I agree, but I'm way more convinced it is the current players we have, vs the current Offensive playcalling/scheme.  We don't have a single player on that side of the ball today that is All Big10 any team/honorable mention.  Two true freshman are our greatest hope right now, and that isn't a recipe for success.

Valid points but I still think we could be getting more production out of what we have.

I also question if the product he is putting on the field is going to attract the type of players we would need to excel in his system.  His system requires very good linemen who excel at pass blocking- not the most desirable thing for o line guys.

I am still stuck on his pass first mentality.  His track record shows he isn't ever going to be a balanced play caller unless forced.  He wants to call 60-70% pass plays and has for the majority of his career.  I don't think that strategy will work in the B1G long-term but I guess we will see.
