Dylan Raiola

We have no idea what's going on behind the scenes.

Publicly, you always back your guys until they're no longer your guys.

I get that head coaches want to back their staffs, but they also need to protect their own image and confirm that fans and local media have a sense they know there are issues that need to be fixed.  I think there was a way that Rhule could have more clearly called out the job his staff is doing without throwing them completely under the bus.  Its definitely a balancing act for a HC.

I put out a challenge to all you studs on this board.  Stand behind a line of guys who for the most part a few iches taller than you.  Then come back and start critiqing

If I know the play is going to Fidone as my first read I will go there without hesitation, and fall back on my training and skills to complete the play.

Now remind me about recruiting visits, getting paid NIL and a billion dollar game/industry that includes Betting and Championships.  I have no problem receiving positive or negative criticism because it is part of the job I signed up for.  All players understand this now in this new era.

Isn’t that why he’s here?  Isn’t that why he has a monster NIL deal?

I’m not standing behind a line of guys.  Not my thing.  I challenge him to earn the fat paycheck.

Did it from 10 years old through college.    Challenge accepted.  Now what?
Then you know its harder than it looks.  Why  some throws look easy from the stands but down on the field you may not see guys wide open.  I tend to give QBs a little more leeway than most other positions.  But people are piling on a true freshman who doesn't have an all star line and no run game to lean on, WR that can barely get open and rarely get any yac

I have constantly stated that he is due mistakes for playing the hardest position in sports as a true freshmen at a P4 school.

I believe the coaching staff has put him in a position to fail vs a position to succeed.  DR would have been much better off sitting this year and learning like Arch did.  And some of that blame is on Dylan for making it known that his commitment relies on him given the chance to play early.

Since he is playing, the coaching staff needed to dumb down the offense in terms of choices for each play, allow some quick outs and quick slants, and more RB screens vs TE/WR screens.   And for gosh sakes, some outside the guard run plays.

Get Dylan more hot read options in plays that receivers and QB and can in route check to va having Dylan check in and out of plays as a true freshmen.  Keep the play and check out of a certain route and into a different one for a single receiver based on where the blitz is coming from.

It’s bad coaching but Dylan has also accepted the big boy money so he needs to deal with criticism like a big boy too.

I agree.  I'm also not saying he is free of any blame because he has made some mistakes and had some bad throws but some people are acting like he's the issue with the offense.  Unfortunately our OC doesn't seem to know how to scheme guys open.  It would be nice to have a guy standing still at 12 yards wide open on 3rd and 9 like UCLA seemed to have the entire first half.  That can help a young quarterback out a lot.  I agree about running outside more.  I think we had one of those called vs UCLA and it looked promising and then was never called again.  Doesn't help that none and I mean none of the WR can block at all.  Maybe the new hire will help
