When Holgorsen was hired at Oklahoma State, the Cowboys' offense was ranked No. 61 nationally in total offense. In his first season the offense led the nation in total offense, averaging 537.6 yards per game, was No. 2 in passing offense, averaging 354.7 yards per game, and No. 3 in scoring offense, averaging 44.9 points per game.



Dana Holgorsen coached six running backs at West Virginia who ran for more than 1,000 yards. 





 









Holgorsen was the head coach at West Virginia for eight seasons. During his time there, he led the Mountaineers to bowl games in six of the last seven years, including four in a row. He also had several other accomplishments, including:




  • Eight quarterbacks passing for more than 4,000 yards
  • Nine quarterbacks throwing for 30 touchdowns
  • Ten top three round draft picks in the Big 12 since 2012
  • The only WVU coach to have a first-round NFL draft choice for two consecutive years (2011 and 2012)

Think this is good for a QB development standpoint. He’s coached Geno, Grier, King and Tune.

Yes sir - should satisfy some of the Pelini crowd lol.  I like the fire as long as he doesn't take it too far.  I am curious how he handles the Nebraska fan base constant scrutiny.

We used to call the plays in the huddle.  QB assumed duties.  Worked great.   Once in a while he'd stretch up and look over at the opposing defense for a few seconds, then call the same play no matter what he saw.  And he said "hut" not Omaha or whatever.   Ah them were the days.

Well, he loves drinking and gambling.  I am guessing his (awesome) vices will help him deal!

Imagine the high end integrity of the 1.4 million dollar man having been removed from your 5 Star QB directly to focus on Fidone's nimbleness in bubble screens, to then get "developed" further by Holmgren's arrival.  

It's safe to say developing Satt isn't the play.  There's not the time, and he doesn't have the acumen or capacity for this level of ball.

My hope would be someone like Thomas calling the plays with Holgerson sitting right next to him giving major input with Thomas doing the communication with the QB to get terminology correct.  Heck, maybe by Iowa, he would have it down.

 
Think it’s relevant for the defensive side of the ball, Phil Snow is also on-site. Not sure he’s been fully hired as analyst per the 247 article.

Be interested to see how big of a coaching shake-up we see.

Think Snow was his first choice, but he stuck around the NFL as an analyst with the Bears after the Carolina stint

A lot of people are preparing for.an 0-3 final stretch, missing a bowl.  If this move can yield higher scoring explosions and, maybe even a win, I'd say that is a best case scenario vs. Sneaking a 10-7 win vs Wisconsin and no changes were made.

This team needs life, not just for this year, but for next year.  Recruiting being a primary concern.  We still have to fix ST and Defensive issues too.   For the latter, I'm not convinced 3-3-5 is any answer in the B!G unless you can give me the 2010 DB crew.
