If I sometimes come to the tepid defense of posters like Archy, Nic, and Devo, it's because the rest of the internet is loaded with self-righteous dumb fuck crusaders like Defender AO who soil themselves with every post. It really is another level of dip-s#!ttery.

It’s great that people are comforted by the idea that horrible things just couldn’t happen in the US and that military leadership hates Trump. 

But the military overall loves Trump. 

They know he will pardon them if they do pro Trump things that he would like and things go south for them. He’s planning to pardon people who brought zip ties with them to congress with plans to use them. 

He knows he has an almost fool proof defense for his actions legally; he just needs to manage to not get hurt. Legal actions wouldn’t work with a failed attempt because the supreme court would be too scared to not side with him.

Brass hating Trump is incredibly important.  It's why we need the people smart enough to see through his BS to sit tight for as long as they can.

I'd wager a sizeable amount of the rank and file is super pro-Trump. But s#!t still rolls downhill in the military. If you step out of line because you think it's something he'd condone, you've still got chain of command to worry about, and at some point up the line there are going to be superiors who do not like Trump's BS and are not going to look the other way. So isolated morons can try brute force implementation of Trumpism but if they run afoul of leadership, it's still going to be their a$$ in the jackpot.

At least that's the hopeful case I'm telling myself. Chain of command is one of the few norms that could keep things from getting completely off the rails.

I haven’t watched TV news at my own place since 2011. I’ll watch minutes of it at my mom’s house but luckily she isn’t addicted to it. And hours of it at my father in law’s house but that’s only a few days a year. Avoiding the P&R forum would probably help.

+1. Very obvious cable news suck across the board. At work I often get subjected to old folks who just marinate in Fox News 24/7 and even being exposed to just little bits of that is aggravating. It’s easy to see how people’s views end up so hopelessly warped if they just stew in that all day every day,

Tonight I just watched PBS Newshour. I might just stick with that. I prefer it or BBC because it’s usually just straight facts of factual interviews with little editorializing.

Jumped off Twitter and switched to Bluesky. It’s loads better.

P&R is much better when slightly curated. :lol:

(They call this freedom of expression, I/we call this disgusting and vile.  I/we are tired of boys thinking they should be allowed to compete against and injure our daughters. Of boys being aloud, in fact, encouraged to dress and undress in girls locker rooms and bathrooms. Of the need to place female hygiene products in boys bathrooms. (Can't leave out that girl that identifies as a male now can we?) 

I'm told I'm a racist. I'm told I'm a misogynist. I'm called a fascist. I'm called a nazi. I'm told I'm anti-democracy. I'm told God doesn't exist when I know he does. I'm laughed at when I say I've heard God's voice. I'm called a terrorists because I'm a Christian. The government has been weaponized against me because I believe in The Trinity but if I believe in allah I'm celebrated. I'm tired of being told what I am when I know I'm nothing they say I am. I/we are tired of a media that lies/misleads at every turn. That have zero fairness. That bloviates for one side. I/we are tired of the likes of the left telling us the majority opinion doesn't matter if it infringes on minority's position. I/we are tired of being told how to think. There is one other thing I've learned thanks to a communist sympathizing rep from new jersey (jamie raskin) threatening and openingly admitting they will use ARTICLE 14 to prevent the will of the people and decertify the election. There is one more thing I/we are tired of and that is the use of a phrase (ex: trust the science) to promote their truth but when science is used to disprove they say, well you can't really trust the science. Liars speak out of both sides of their mouths and yes, I/we are tired of the lies and we are done listening. The line is drawn. How far will the cowards push it.
