That kind of behavior is so foreign to me. I can't think of a single time I've ever spoken to someone else like that, nor would I ever.
I wonder how much of it might be echo chamber behavior. If you're constantly surrounded by people who think like you do, and you engage them in that way, then you might be more inclined to engage others that way, as well. For example, my in-laws (boomers), many of their siblings, my wife's grandma, are all very pro-Trump to a fault. They also employ a lot of Trump supporters and hang out in a lot of pro-Trump circles. So, when they get around my wife and I (both moderate) I think they forget that we do not have a love affair with Trump or any political candidate for that matter.
I distinctly recall the confusion on their face when they found out I voted for Biden and Don Bacon in 2020... like the idea of voting across party lines was just foreign to them.
