Fire Foley. It’s past time.

I saw something as well that indicated we had one of the tougher schedules in the country, but I don’t think it matters.

We played UTEP & Northern Iowa.  I think we got lucky beating both Rutgers and Colorado.  We are in the fight of our lives with .500 teams.  Great, we are the trash team OSU overlooked.

Raiola was an upgrade, but I have concerns.  Barney is legit.  The addition of Holgorsen is the only thing that gives me hope.  But him alone is not enough.

I think it’s crazy to think anything changes next year at this point.
I am pessimistically optimistic.  Bringing in Dana and then promoting him was a pretty bold move.  Don't recall this happening many times. I mostly remember/see the midseason firing and then an internal "temp hire/promotion.  I do think Dana would be an upgrade, but I wonder about a few things:

1) Does he even want the job? He's making $4.8 million this year and next.  $2.9 million the next 2 years.

2) How much control would Dana be given?  Could he hire and fire guys?  Would some guys be "safe" because of Rhule, regardless of what Dana wants?

3) How do we fix the talent deficit?  We seem to be lacking "dudes" on both sides of the ball.  The past 10 years I have always been addition by subtractions, but have only seen us adding new and unbelievable ways to lose.

If we do overhaul a substantial amount of the staff and we drop to the 105 roster it opens the door to the "more time" argument. New OC needs to get his players...New scheme/terminology.....Player "X" hit the portal.....We just seem stuck in the perpetual circle of suck where everything we do is wrong and fixes nothing.  Or improves one area and another craps out.  Much like D plays lights out and O doesn't show up.  I've got no answers...

We don’t have a talent problem. Besides Ohio and the California schools, we haven’t been out-talented this season.  We have a coaching problem.   Rhule allows his assistants to determine who plays and I’m convinced they play favorites despite those players having glaring deficiencies.  Basically a high standard of play isn’t demanded.   We’re more talented than Iowa by a small margin but Iowa is more disciplined and fundamentally sound by a large margin.  They don’t beat themselves.  We do and have for years.  We will continue to unless underperforming staff are replaced.  This isn’t complicated.

Agree with this. We have the players we just don't develop them. As far as playing favorites, I'm guessing 90% of the time when that happens it's subconscious bias, not deliberate. There are a$$h@!es out there too though.

We have a fairly significant talent advantage over Iowa.  If we were halfway competent the other night that is a 24-3 game easily. They couldn't do a thing and we missed several open throws.  Other guys were open all night and he didn't throw the ball.  We were also running straight ahead just fine, then got cute.

The most frustrating part of that game is they had no business even being close to us, let alone winning! If we could have just gone up 2 scores, Iowa isn't coming back from that, but we let them hang around.  The box score is an all timer. It just boggles the mind.  I have very little faith left in Rhule because competent coaches 1. Don't have teams that do these things and 2. If they do they are benching guys, chewing their asses and demanding more.  That isn't happening here and I will be very surprised if anything changes. We saw Dana do that a little, but I won't be surprised if he saw behind the Rhule curtain and says "thanks, but no thanks" if he won't be setup for success.

I will post here every morning until foley is canned.  Perhaps the Tony white news has delayed the inevitable, one can only hope that’s why this guy hasn’t been kicked to the curb yet
My dearest huskerboard members- I report back from the front lines. It’s day 2 of my mission.  I humbly admit I came ill prepared for an extended campaign.  My higher ups anticipated an announcement within 24 hours and equipped me with minimal rations to get me through wednesday.  I fear I must forage the land and hunt for my own meals if this drags on any further

i am writing Matt rhule directly letting him know my life might be in danger if he doesn’t can foley soon.

wish me all luck, I sincerely hope I do not have to provide an update on day 3 and this charade will come to an end.

forever yours,

gossamorharpy
