2024 Transfer Portal Ins/Outs

I agree, keeping Riley Van Poppel is critical. Keona Davis looks promising as well. That said, we really don't have a lot of depth yet. Tyson Terry will be good, but might need a year or two before he can be a force. We would really benefit from Jeudy taking a big step before next fall too. Too often we'd sub to second stringers and get blown off the ball. As the year went on, we started staggering Nash/Ty for plays off more often, except for the games RVP played. Those three were difference makers up front. Also would help to see Lenhardt make a leap as he's got a lot of potential.

As "nice" as it is to get the skilled guys, I have moved into the camp of some of our highest NIL guys should bed OL and DL guys.  We should throw $$$ at these guys

I’ll admit I’m getting to the point where we gotta step up our game.  Yes the specialists were needed and then we got a 5 star with potential.  That is not a good trade for what we lost above. We started out in this hole and the game is in the later innings.  We have to close strong.  With the seniors we lost on the DL (even before the portal exits) we knew we’d need to go strong at the DL and I figured we’d have more targets and should have guys knocking down the door to fill the DL void.  WR and RB also have more noise I wasn’t expecting.  Need to clear the bases with some big hits now.

I agree. We got a punter, long snapper, backup DE, and 1 DE who will challenge for a starting spot. Gotta lock down starting caliber guys to finish

Guys in the portal literally just started going on visits and we have a bunch that have scheduled visits. So, the portal opens up and most announce they are in the first day. Do you expect our coaches to then fill those spots with studs the next day?  Guys we want have options. They are going to take some time to go on multiple visits before they decide.

I disagree.  Went to 247 sports.  Look at the top 10 by position. Plenty are off the board.  We only show up under Edge, and ironically our old edge guy we lost is sitting right above our new edge guy we just got.  This is not a good portal showing and now is the time to capitalize on improving the team. This is the new landscape of CFB.  Git R Done!

All 12 playoff teams can have players enter up until a week after their last playoff games. Pretty sure that's how it works for bowl teams too. I'm willing to bet we will see a lot more good players in the portal in the next few weeks.

Yes, we will be adding more players, but just how many starting caliber players are out there in the portal at our positions of need? Then how many of them would consider Nebraska? Then how many would be a fit schematically? The pool gets dwindled down pretty fast and then factor in all these other schools going after those handful of players as well. There are going to be only so many guys that fit and meet all the criteria so there is going to be a fair amount of risk regardless of the outcome. I would much rather see our staff be selective and do as much due diligence as they can instead of trying to score quick signings.

Correct! Remember Ceyer Wright wasn’t added until late spring or summer and he is workout just fine. With the 105 limit, you need to be selective. Yes, we are missing on guys whom we would have liked, but many more are coming. Playoff teams and then the Spring will produce more guys! Let’s relax and let in play out

I’d just say take the 247 portal ranking with a huge grain of salt.  They have Princewill rated as the #7 overall player in the portal.
