Pinstripe Bowl/2024 What Did We Learn

Fidone really has struggled with blocking. He was a good looking receiver coming out of high school and put on some good weight. That hasn’t translated in to better instincts and execution. He is still just a receiving TE.

The flipped side is that he has been mismanaged as a receiving TE. People complain about the swing passes in the flat, but he is just doing what has been designed and called. Last year he got all kinds on inline sets with skinny and deep posts that made matchup nightmares. The problem was HH wasn’t consistent enough to put those balls on target to get the value out of it. Fidone is getting route combos for an agile receiving threat. His bread and butter seems more as a matchup nightmares that can stretch coverage between linebackers and safeties.

Not only does Dylan need to work on his throwing footwork/mechanics in the offseason, he also needs to learn when to slide vs dive.  This was at least the 3rd time (I think) he’s slid short this year when if he dives or takes another step he gets a 1st down.

The grounds keeper and Foley should be canned. The field sucked.
This bowl game should just go away. They were playing on a turf meant for baseball that wasn’t designed to be played on with water on the field and doesn’t take root as deep in the ground to help with the footing needed for football.

they should either commit to investing in turf for football or play this in an actual football stadium. Highly doubt they’re shelling out the $ for a single low tier ball game to get a proper surface. The team that runs this bowl is legit putting players health at risk unnecessarily playing on the surface we saw today

I thought natural grass was much better on the body than turf?  Isnt that what we’re going to?  It might be a slow surface, but its cushy

Natural grass definitely better. The grass today though is the same grass the Yankees play on. One of the previews I read mentioned the bowl crew that runs this game was really hoping the rain would miss the game- baseball grass designed to be shorter and has shorter roots than what you’d see a natural turf for football look like.  Ground clumps more likely and the field overall doesn’t drain as well
