Your 2025 Nebraska Cornhuskers

You really look at our strong defenses over the last few decades and the have had hitters at safety.

Gomes & Hagg to come to mind.  Gerry obviously.  Every chance I get I bring up how underrated I think Omar Brown was at Nebraska.
I will say one that was incredibly underrated was Matty O.  He was much maligned for the Va Tech game wining TD, but that dude was one of the best I have seen in the open field.   A very sure tackler.  An eraser on the back end for sure.  12 tackle and 3 INT game against OU....Yea, I'd take a couple dudes like him.

Not sure who gave you the laugh emoji.  He had a rough start to his career, but I thought he really finished off pretty well.

'25 roster posted on the official page, here's some guys not listed: Barret Liebentritt, Blake Closman, Taveon Thompson, Trevor Ruth, Elliott Brown, Danny Pasko, Grant Buda, Joey Mancino, Alex Bullock, Camden Witucki. No real surprises, but brings the number (I've got) down to 132... 27 still to go. Best of luck to all of these Huskers.

There are still a good number of walk-ons listed on that update. Have to imagine they will try to go somewhere in the spring/summer once spring ball is over. Because if you were just going to give up football completely, like some have suggested, why would you go through mat drills and spring ball?

I imagine they will keep only 20 or so walk-on types so the roster spots will come down and they will find new schools post cuts. Have to imagine they bring in 1-3 more post spring ball particularly at OL/DT, and maybe RB/S. But yes I imagine a lot of those guys go to D2, FCS, NAIA level or simply cant find spots after.

It'll be a pretty colossal failure if they keep 20 walk-on types.

We have 94 scholarship-type players on the roster right now.  And that's not counting Nelson, Hoffken, Ochoa, Hohl, Ottomanelli and Koch who are pseudo-scholarship guys.  There will probably be a few leave after spring ball but also probably a couple more come in.

We should be almost totally scholarship guys, depending on how you look at a few of the specialists.

Any chance we offer some compensation to some practice only guys?  Not sure if that is even still allowed but practice squads used to be a thing.  I believe it was up to 20% of roster limit.

Haha.  All good.  I agree.  Dude was a solid safety back there for us. That 2009 D was loaded. If only Ganz had one more year or TM started earlier....
I think of that often - Bo would have, could have, should have had a NC team IF he had the right QB.  That Offense was so inept at times.  Just think how Bo with a NC would have changed the trajectory of the program.

You and I can sign up to be practice dummies if they pay enough

Pretty sure you can only have 105 on the roster.  There was some talk of a "practice squad" but I've seen nothing about that other than just coaches and media speculation.  I don't see that happening.

I'd be curious to see what the actual written rules are regarding something like this.

I went to a DII school and walked on to the basketball team my freshman year. Decided it was too much for too little (was never going to get minutes), so sophomore year onwards I would just practice on scout team with the women, along with a handful of other guys. We had to go through NCAA clearing and compliance officially, and it counted towards our eligibility, but otherwise there was no limit or restriction on having practice players for the ladies to go up against, despite their roster being full.
