So I read somewhere they were hoping Fidone would play a senior year. That’s total propaganda BS. You think they would pull a good player out of an entire game for motion penalty.? They did everything they could hurt his pro stats. This kid gave it all from Nebraska And they did everything to hurt him, especially in that next last game

Putt G Wloo well to keep his statistics low. They didn’t pass him as much as they could have. And he was open a lot. Finally, the biggest slam came when they pulled him out of a game on the third play for motion. And he did not get back into the game until the last couple of plays where he caught a pass for like 30 yards. When the pros look at him, they look at all that stuff yards after catch, etc. etc. They tried to keep it low enough so he wouldn’t be a great candidate if he wanted to go pro in his senior year. Pulling him out of that game was a dealbreaker. I’m sure. And behind closed doors they promised him a whole lot more. A break out year with a lot of passes per game. Never happened the one coach before this new one told the other tight in that he wasn’t good enough to play so he portal out.

The problem is, it was way more than just a motion penalty. They must be forgetting the missed blocks he had.People related to Fidone continue to be embarrassing online.

He missed blocks all year. It doesn’t have to be just in that game. The frustration with a player can build to a point where just the motion penalty gets him benched. He hadn't missed any blocks in that game, it was only the second possession. He didn't start either though, fwiw. I don't buy that they intentionally kept him out or anything, but for Wisconsin it was just the motion penalty combined with Boerkircher/Lindenmeyer playing well enough that there was no need to take them off the field. My understanding is when Holgorson stepped in there was very little separation between the TEs, and it was after the Wisconsin benching that Fidone stepped it back up.
I thought Fidone was fine as a blocker, not as good as Lindenmeyer but not a liability by any means. He missed some blocks, as did most of our guys. I do think there's validity to saying he was open more than his numbers would show, but there was no actual effort by the staff or other players to minimize his role. And contrary to that relative's claim, pro scouts don't care about random stats like YAC in a vacuum. He'll be evaluated on how well he did his job, not how often he got the ball.

Is this not weird to others? What are we missing? Barthel has been criticized so much, yet Texas wants him?Keep an eye on EJ Barthel going to Texas.
Honestly I think this would be a win, win for both parties

We has a pretty good chance of being draftedFidone will be operating a tattoo parlor in Council Bluffs at this time next year. Maybe getting ready for the UFL.
NFL front office exec I am not…but I really never saw anything that would warrant a draftable grade for him. He has a lean frame, but can’t separate…has the height but couldn’t seem to catch a ball over his head…had huge hands but tended to have a case of the dropsies…oh and has 2 prior acls.We has a pretty good chance of being drafted
He's currently considered a top 20 tight end in the draft pre-Combine and Pro Day. Add in the fact that his measurables are highly sought after (huge hands, big frame, adequately mobile), and he'll likely get a handful of invites to camps in the fall if he doesn't get outright drafted.NFL front office exec I am not…but I really never saw anything that would warrant a draftable grade for him. fidone was good for a curl route for 5-7 yards or the occasional over route for 12. Not a lot of route in his route tree. Let’s not discuss his screen game…that shows his inability to make even the most geriatric of men miss in open space. And he never out muscled a guy on the perimeter…
I wish the guy luck and everything, but I’d be a little stunned if he was more than a undrafted FA. Maybe he can go back to LC and get into coaching…give back to the Alma mater. Or that tatoo parlor thing sounds promising![]()
