A cause to unite us allCan I get an Amen!! One of the worst “features” ever invented for a vehicle. I haven’t met a single person yet who actually isn’t super annoyed about this.
I used to be really annoyed by this. But, both of our cars now do it so seamlessly that it's really no big deal. About 8 years ago, we bought a car for our daughter where it was malfunctioning...sometimes. But, when it happened, it was a bad safety issue. I was very lucky that I have a very good relationship with the dealership and they actually took the car and the salesman drove it for a week. I all of a sudden got a text..."HOLY s#!t!!!! NOW I SEE WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT!!!" They got us a different car.Can I get an Amen!! One of the worst “features” ever invented for a vehicle. It does save gas. But how much depends on how much start/stop driving you do. I know you've said you live out in western NE, so it might not save you a ton. But a person living in an area with horrible traffic would probably see much more noticeable difference.I used to be really annoyed by this. And...I really don't think it saves gas.
I understand that. And, I understand that more people live in cities than where I live. But, even with that, not everyone that lives in cities spends large amounts of time stuck in traffic every day.1 minute ago, funhusker said:

Same with power windows and locks, digital screens, and everything else. Welcome to the future!I understand that. And, I understand that more people live in cities than where I live. But, even with that, not everyone that lives in cities spends large amounts of time stuck in traffic every day.
Meanwhile, all of the rest of us are paying for that technology and everything that comes with it.
Not the same. I use all of those every day and enjoy them no matter if I live in the city or not.Same with power windows and locks, digital screens, and everything else. Welcome to the future!
Would you use manual windows, locks, and radio dials if it made your car much cheaper? I definitely would! Not the same. I use all of those every day and enjoy them no matter if I live in the city or not.
Yes...I'd pay for that technology.Would you use manual windows, locks, and radio dials if it made your car much cheaper? I definitely would!
I always go for "mechanical" over "electric" if I can. Easier to fix at home if something does go wrong.
Twice I have bought new cars without power locks or windows to save money and I was totally fine with it.Would you use manual windows, locks, and radio dials if it made your car much cheaper? I definitely would!

Well, enough are willing to pay for the start/stop technology to make it worth putting in a lot of new model vehicles. So the rest of us are stuck paying for it whether we want it or not. So it's the same as the locks and windows that I would love to get rid of if it saved me money.Yes...I'd pay for that technology.
It's the same simply because we don't really have a choice anymore. Go on a lot and find a car that doesn't have any of that. It's pretty rare.Well, enough are willing to pay for the start/stop technology to make it worth putting in a lot of new model vehicles. Our maintenance dept buys a new truck every year as part of their rotation. A few years ago we got one with power everything, mp3 player, etc. The thing seemed loaded! We were giving our maintenance guys crap about it; apparently Ford stopped putting manual locks/windows in vehicles because it actually would be more expensive to do with the low demand for those things.Twice I have bought new cars without power locks or windows to save money and I was totally fine with it.
I almost never drive with my windows down anyway, so that is not really an issue for me. As far as locking doors, I almost never do it.
That's what I was saying. You could have just agreed from the get-go :thumbsIt's the same simply because we don't really have a choice anymore. Go on a lot and find a car that doesn't have any of that. It's pretty rare.
