Those Clinton-era military base closures aren't quite the same thing, but it's an interesting example of the problem. The Pentagon itself recommended the closure of several military bases it no longer needed and handed the list to Congress. That's where Congresspeople realized how much money those bases brought to their district. So each Congressperson opposed closure of their base, and supported closure of another district's base. By the time it bled into the Bush administration, d!(k Cheney had drafted a list of closures to be based 100% in Democrat districts. 

If the current budget hacking drama involves DOD excesses, I haven't gotten the memo yet. 

BTW.....weren't we saving Just Normal American Utopia for less overtly partisan topics?

maybe my posts defending republicans that you derisively called RINOs?  me calling Tulsi Gabbard a national security risk when she was still a democrat?  me calling for menedez to be kicked out?   probably more if we go back to when i used "thanks obama" several times on huskerboard.      

 
This is a GREAT clip from John Stewart and he pushes back in a very sensible way.   More of these need to be had and shared widely.    Nice work here John, let’s get more Republican sided commentators to do the same thing and get on board to help educate the masses that our Government needs to be ACCOUNTABLE with our money.   No more, “well the money was spent how it should have been spent, but we just can’t account for it and show you commoners.   You just don’t really understand”.  BS

Okay so look at spending and abide by the constitution. You control the entire legislative branch - so get rid of any and all spending you want. I know that I'm talking to a member of a party that doesn't really care about this kind of thing anymore... but you know, write something called a law.

You seem to really gloss over the point, over and over. But I understand why: your party is clearly anti-American and this is hard for you to cope with. Nobody wants to be told for a long time that they vote for morons and that modern conservatism is anti-american at its core. So you either have an identity crisis and realize you've supported dangerous Authoritarianism and change...

Or you just ignore that and act like it's just about address government that you don't like. It's kind of sad to witness, if I'm being honest. Because you know better.

This is the kind of response I expect from somebody who feels guilty, as you should. 

It's sad, but entirely predictable. Try against the odds to understand the world around you or just stop voting. There's nothing wrong with that.
