Dylan Raiola

So is that a post=-Johnny Manziel rule? Or did he redshirt?

It's literally always been a rule, or at least always since I was old enough to start paying attention to football closely, around 2004 but with no knowledge of any players before that having ever entered the league earlier than after a redshirt sophomore or junior season had ended.

I think it is clear that DR is staying at NU...unless this year is just a huge mess and fans/NIL turns on him a bit.

Dylan can be the biggest celebrity in the state, and that could give him a big NIL motivation to stay here.

But it doesn't necessarily have to turn into a big mess. Just another middling season might be enough for Dylan and his advisors to shop around. Seems to be happening a lot these days.

It could be.  I don't know if anyone would out-bid NU but it could happen.

At that point I don't think it's NIL as much as what team — presumably with better receivers and offensive line — gives you the better numbers and NFL draft pick.

There are plenty of donor and fanbases that can outbid NU if they want. But if Dylan feels like he's the leader of an upwardly mobile Nebraska team, he stays. Another 7-6 season might be concerning.

I haven't kept up with the RB room. Do we have anyone who's a big enough threat to make teams respect the run, so Raiola doesn't have to play Hero Ball all season?

Not saying he did that last year, mind you. Just asking about RBs.

Depends how much you believe Rhule saying they believe Kwinten Ives and Mekhi Nelson are ready for bigger roles. I think a full season of Emmett Johnson will be really good, but there's not any depth whether you measure by past production or recruiting ratings. A lot of people really like Jamarion Parker a true freshman, but he's also 175 pounds and I think was dinged up for a lot of the Spring.

So it's a concern. There's definitely a world where this works out with EJ emerging as an all-conference type back and the other guys filling roles behind an experienced OL. But it has to be the biggest question mark on the offensive side IMO.

I'm excited to see what EJ can do as the full time #1 starter.  However, injuries always happen at the RB position.  Hopefully someone steps up.

I think you are going to see EJ catch a lot of passes.  Flaring him out left/right.

As far as just a run game, I am not sure I would expect to see anything all that impressive.  Probably a lot like last year.

Yes same here.  I think he has the potential to be another Ameer.   I think he has that kind of talent if he has blockers around him and they utilize him properly.

If he can't showcase his abilities here.....Not the 1st nor the last to leave a spot to get a better opportunity.  It's business now.  And not moving on cost Ewers $8 million in NIL if rumors are true.
