What about Watson for HC?

I don't understand the fascination with Watson. So many people have presented a scenario where Watson become the interim head coach if Callahan is fired. Why Watson? What has he shown? Callahan calls the plays, and runs the offense. Watson is an OC by title alone. What his actual role is remains a mystery.

what about Fred Petito?
I wouldnt mind seeing Petito as some assitant coach, maybe O-line or something. However there is no way you can go from head coach of a highschool football team to the head job a one of the biggest college football programs in the nation. Petito could be a great college coach, but that is way to big of a risk, i mean people talk about Pelini or Gill being a risk and they are both coaching college football.

I was completely joking, no knock on Petito's ability, but the way you would have to do it is by starting as a graduate assistant...i.e. Dan McClaughlin and Carl Pelini...

I think when the ship goes down, Watson will be looking for a floatie. I'm not saying he wouldnt do well as a HC, but it's the same thing for all coordinators taking that next step. From little that I know, he does well as an OC.

I can see Osborne keeping Bill Callahan for another year or two and then promoting Watson to the job. Seems like more his style.

But I could be totally wrong after this weekend.
