Yes, this is both why the Trump Administration baited them into this spectacle and why the cultivated image of Democrats being lawless has contributed to their extreme unpopularity.Leftists have always had a friendly or at least familiar/empathetic relationship with rioting and/or protests, there's no hypocritical about face here.
This is some of the worst advice I've heard. Advocating that good men do nothing is certainly an opinion. I'm starting to think you actually approve of authoritarianism.Yes, this is both why the Trump Administration baited them into this spectacle and why the cultivated image of Democrats being lawless has contributed to their extreme unpopularity.
Trump is quite obviously going to win this exchange with the "protesters". Governors of Democratic states need to do everything in their power to stop people from "protesting" ICE.
The best course of action is to just let ICE continue to be incompetent. Accidentally arresting citizens is extremely unpopular. Deporting people without due process is even more unpopular. Even deporting non-violent immigrants is unpopular. Democrats need to recognize that the best course of action is to stop anti-ICE "protests" and just let them be the anchor of unpopularity that Trump deserves.
Yes, because letting Trump continue to be unpopular to the point where he's underwater on *checks notes* every single issue, even immigration, and then winning elections is a bad idea. This is some of the worst advice I've heard. You are advocating for the Dem party to stop people from protesting. I don't care if it helps them win elections if it means giving up our rights along the way.Yes, because letting Trump continue to be unpopular to the point where he's underwater on *checks notes* every single issue, even immigration, and then winning elections is a bad idea.
The good idea for Democrats? Continue to be viewed as toxic sludge in most of America and to shed voters across all demographics at unsustainable rates.
The problem here isn't that I'm authoritarian. I'm a patriotic person who believes in liberal American democracy. It's that Democrats are addicted to losing elections and hemorrhaging electoral support.

I think it's fine if they do so in an orderly way, but the idea that every form of protest is legal just isn't true. You are advocating for the Dem party to stop people from protesting. I don't care if it helps them win elections if it means giving up our rights along the way.
I agree. However, at the same time, there is a very small minority of protestors that are falling for what Trump wants them to do and that's what is making the headlines (which, nobody here supports). This is some of the worst advice I've heard. Advocating that good men do nothing is certainly an opinion. I'm starting to think you actually approve of authoritarianism.
Well I agree with you.I think it's fine if they do so in an orderly way, but the idea that every form of protest is legal just isn't true.
Legal protests are coordinated through local law enforcement and are permitted to people don't light Waymo's on fire.
Showing up and hurling rocks at ICE agents arresting people - legally or not - isn't protesting. What Democrats need to do is ensure robust law enforcement exists and have plans in place to keep these kinds of "protests" to a minimum.
Exactly.Well I agree with you.
Let them protest all they want, but assure that it remains peaceful and lawful. This approach would require being a little extra forceful when any in the crowd begin to cross a line.
But yeah, then sit back and let Trump, MAGA and the Rs hang themselves electorally with their own fascist authoritarian ways. The Dems can’t be seen as aiding and abetting lawless behavior if they want to quit losing elections. And given what the Rs have been proposing and doing for the last 9 years or so, we don’t want them winning elections, even if I’m definitely not a dem, they are by far the least bad of the two.
People will crap on this idea BUT this is a tactic that all smart people use all the time.Yes, this is both why the Trump Administration baited them into this spectacle and why the cultivated image of Democrats being lawless has contributed to their extreme unpopularity.

Hmmmm. People were baited into rioting is a strange take. I’ve seen it throughout the Dem leadership so I see talking points have went out and that’s what you’re going with.Trumps policies are unpopular. Let him be unpopular. People foaming at the mouth with glee, like certain conservative posters here, should be the canary-in-the-coal mine for the obvious political bait that this all is. It's a shame that it's working.
