The Republican Utopia

You know you can still be killed or mailed with those, right?

A friend of ours lost an eye at the local paintball range. She wasn't playing, she just got hit by a paintball that slipped through the protective netting.

I got shot at point blank range by a grown-assed dork in paramilitary gear playing against my son and his 12-year old buddies. Definitely stung a bit. One of our twelve year olds took him out early in the next game.

We did BB gun wars back in the day.  The rule was you could only pump your gun once...which of course no one followed.  Most of us wore science lab goggles that we "borrowed" from our HS (I still need to return those).

During that "war" we had

A BB go under a kids fingernail, we had to pop it off to get it out

A BB go into a kids tongue.  It was by best friend, I tried digging it out with a knife, it did not work.  He had to go to the hospital.

A BB went into a kids eyelid.  Hospital trip as well, ended up totally fine.

Wimpy.

We had BB gun wars also.

No pump limit. IIRC 1 or 2 kids had CO2 rifles.

We generally would put on LS shirts or light jackets and would try to wear goggles or eye protection (unless you couldn’t find any). I remember the day a neighbor’s mom put a stop to them. Her soon took one dead center between the eyes at the top of his nose. I can still see the indentation in my mind. Yeah no more BB gun wars after that close call. Little Davey still has sight in both eyes as far as I know.

Don’t get me started on pop bottle rocket wars…
