Off The Schnide

Huskers beat Iowa 8-5 tonight...

Didn't get to attend tonight, but I'm sure someone was there and can tell us how some of the guys performed... (huskerswrkhavoc? :) )

I know Iowa isn't very good... but a win is a win in baseball.

I am glad to see them get a win before TX AM. Its still a long rode and I have serious concerns that remain. I was just thinking this morning how is it that DJ Belfonte comes in here as a freshman and preforms at a BIG 12 level and the last two years he has struggled at bat?

Is that a development issue?

Sorry :( I wasn't there... I can talk to my family and see what they have to say.. They were at the game... I had to work last night and tried to get 3 different people to cover but I couldnt... really disappointed me since my college choices were down to NU and Iowa.... Hell, my 1st visit to Iowa was strategically planned in April of 2006 when NU played @ Iowa... The game that went 13 innings  but anyways sorry... I'll try to get a rundown though...

As for Belfonte... That actually is a legitimate question.. However coming from you it can come off wrong just because you're asking it from the standpoint as we should blame MA for Belfonte's struggles... Maybe he is just struggling? Tyler Farst is perfoming quite well after being developed... Jake Mort seems to be doing just fine... Jeff Tezak seems to play pretty well.... Hell look at Alex Gordon.. He spent 3 years under MA.... I would say there is a different source other than just MA not developing him well.. But maybe MA's techniques are not the way that DJ responds to best... that's def. a possibility.

Well, what the hell are we paying you to do?

That's alright though... I think I got the gist of it from the paper today. Tezak, Bailey, and Asche were awesome with the bats...

Mariot was pretty good for 3 innings, Bird sucked again for the most part, Kerkhoff did awesome, and Nesseth closed the door.

Good to know... i guess my family talking about "the game" was my 8 yr old brothers baseball game <_< ... so they werent there lol... But hopefully that'll get bailey back on track... Sad that Bird sucked because he pitched pretty well vs Texas I thought... The UT series also was the 1st time I've really watched Kerkhoff and wow... Kid is gonna be a stud for us... He's in the rotation next year for sure if not by the end of this year... Depending on what Nesseth does draft wise next year.. if he comes back I think our rotation next year is Nesseth/Kerkhoff/Yost... Mariot may be the closer... he's looked to be filthy when he's not seeing hitters more than once... Hey, maybe this team can be LSU :) they won like 23 straight to finish the season to make the NCAA tourney and end up hosting... well, if we win out up to the big 12 tourney that'd be 19 games!! okay okay okay maybe a little bit of wishful thinking but hey, weirder things have happened.... right?

This comment above makes it sound like your being recruited by Iowa and NE! Maybe I am wrong!
