What ever happened with the trying to schedule Boise State?

A lot of tough talk out of Boise State last couple of years. Haven’t done much to back it up. Other than beating up Big Sky patsies on the smurf turf. Time for Boise to put on their big boy pants and play a real football team. The home-away-home NU proposed would have been a good start. If they think they can hang with us, that is.

I think Boise-NU would be a great series. I'd like to see it happen.

I'd like to see it too, but like others have posted... they expect to get big school and small school benefits at the same time... that won't work.

TO didn't want to play them in 2011 because Kellen Moore will be back for his senior season and Boise will be stacked all around and probably top five material, while we will potentially be breaking in a new starting QB and have several other key holes to fill. It had nothing to do with the money, as any team playing a single away game will request a good chunk of money. Rumor had it that ESPN was even willing to pay the difference to cover the game and choose the time slot. But it certainly wasn't the money, as we would've pulled in a lot more than Boise on the deal, and they were barely asking more than the run-of-the-mill cupcakes we bring to Lincoln every season.

Depending on your perspective, you might think TO was "scared" or you might think he was making a smart move. But you can't blame it on Boise, as they were ready to pull the trigger for a reasonable price on a game that would have been huge on the national radar. This whole subject has been thoroughly discussed in past threads.

I knew it had been discussed previously, but I hadn't heard anything for a while as to Osborne's offer for the 2015,2016,2017 seasons and was wanting to know if any kind of decision was in process?

In this day and age..I doubt FSU's method of gaining "respect" is necessary or even that possible with Boise's recruiting base.

Also..Playing Nebraska isn't as beneficial as it once was..(We're still probably considered "down" and probably will be until we start beating top-10's regularly).

I was under the impression that the ESPN talks where just that, rumors. As far as I knew the full terms where never disclosed so we don't know exactly what Boise was asking for. I am more inclined to believe that Boise is taking the Floyd Mayweather approach to scheduling. "I will fight anyone, anytime, anywhere...........Provided you comply with the few demands I already know you will not except."

I also think it's unfair to suggest TO was afraid to take the game in 2011 for fear NU might lose. When as far as I'm aware NU was the only "big name" school that gave Boise a publicized counter proposal that, surprise, surprise they where cold on.

I don't think that TO was afraid of Playing them, or at least that's what I heard when this all came out. It sounded to me that Boise St. wanted the two home games and play us here once and still get a payoff for doing so. I remember hearing I Think on 1620 that they basically didn't want to be looked at as a small school and wanted the respect they deserve. Which is hillarious because they also wanted the payout (all of which has been mentioned above).
