Love it!
The helmets need to go at the bottom somewhere if we keep them. We discussed that in another thread, and I think everyone was in agreement on that. Some obvious areas I've noticed need changing:
-The top seems a little busy. perhaps the big 10 helmets can go at the bottom.
Agreed. I'd prefer it up much higher. And, since it will be used even outside of the football season, I'd like to see it placed above the "Next Opponent - Last Opponent" boxes.-The "Welcome by admin" in the right margin is supposed to be the area we send broadcasts to the board. it doesn't seem very effective where it is now.
Not seeing that - but I've got a 27" monitor. Could the scroll bar be due to the side bar on the right?-The horizontal scroll bar under the forum needs to go.
Love having the Facebook button there, and the fact that it jumps right to the HuskerBoard Facebook page. The Twitter button? I think we can drop that, but then again, I don't use Twitter (come to think of it, I don't use Facebook, either, so what do I know)?-I realize all the buttons on top aren't relevant - these can easily change
Yes. Most definately.-The red shade is a bit deeper than the current red we use - do you guys think this should be a brighter red?
Is this a feature we can turn on and off? I'd like it to be something we can hide during the offseason. As to where it should go - kind of depends on whether it will be horizontal or vertical. If horizontal, it seems that theres a space directly under the HuskerNation banner that is open all the way across that would work.-We still need the live scoreboard from around the big-12/10 -- suggestions for where to put this?
Well, not entirely redundant, since it provides the date and time, and a link to the Schedule Results page. We need to combine both "next game" functions, which I think you can do by reducing and then adding the countdown clock to the one above the last opponent, freeing up that space at the upper right for - well, rotating adds or something. Or nothing at all, which will improve the look. Also - how easily can the last and next opponents features be updated? When I tried looking at how to make any changes to the right side bar in the current version, I couldn't find the CSS or template to do it.Also just realized the "next game" in the right margin is redundant. and the Previous Game could be presented a little better.
I'll do that now.To answer a point you made now -- by all means if you guys have ideas for consolidating the forums, we're open to it. Can you please send a link to the thread to admin@huskerboard.com and we'll review.
Good point. I'll include a link to the contest in the upcoming newsletter.I think that the new banner should be premiered with the new layout
Good question. I would love some input from people on what mods would be useful, since I'm not involved in the daily operation anymore - you guys know better than I do about what is needed. Take a look here:Strong start. My only input right now is to ditch the helmets (look cool, but shouldn't be a permanent fixture) and fix the color issues (3 different reds).
On a side note. What are the options for IPB as far as additional modules (chat, pages, etc.)? If there is anything that we would want to add, it probably needs to be done at the same time as the theme change.
I would be hesitant about publishing the Starting Lineup any more than we do. Starting Lineup is an event that people get a kick out of, and it's off-season entertainment, but that should be as far as it goes. I know there were a couple of people were surprised/concerned that they weren't voted "part of the team" last time. Also an idea for something else to highlight on the new design. I know you guys have done quite a bit with the member team positions, which is a cool effect. Do we want to do anything with this -- maybe have a lineup or member "hall of fame" in the right margin or bottom of board? We naturally don't want to ostracize other members, but it might be a good way to encourage people to get more involved, to make a case for the HOF.
As Eric always tells me as aspiring middle manager of the year -- "people friggin love recognition chad."

Between the post rating system and the starting lineup, I think we have enough recognition things.
