QB Race

This couldn't have been brought up in the QB Race thread? We had to start a new one?
For each day that Bo doesn't announce who the starter, a new thread is born.
And unfortunately, WHEN that starter is announced, there will be at least one thread per day stating why this QB or that QB should have been named the starter instead. Bank on it

I would like to know which QB the OP is friends with or family of...

One thing I've liked reading about is how the QBs aren't wearing the "no-contact" jerseys and that Bo & Carl have been throwing everything AND the kitchen sink at them from a defensive standpoint. I know it's just practice and scrimages, but in my opinion, that's the best way to get ready for a game. Only about a week left! I'm wishing the best of luck to whoever the starter is. GBR

I like it too. They need that kind of stuff if we are going to find a legitimate starter out there. Once you have a starter named, then throw the green jersey on. But I love going through the evaluation process and having these guys free to take hits.

This is a place to discuss all things Huskers is it not? I mean, you seem like you've been here quite a long time and made quite a few comments........maybe ease up and let Husker fans discuss what they choose to discuss. There are many other threads here if you don't like this one.

Yes, the Rivals staff is saying they think Martinez will be our starting quarterback.

If it were me, I would run Burkhead out of the wildcat for the first series just to have fun with the media and fans

the kids gonna be the starter when its all said and done. Last year no one thought he was even going to get a chance to be a QB and now he has passed up Cody and is on LEE's heals?....he must be doing something special. Even all the "experts" on here were saying he had no shot and was going to be playing D or WR. Now all the sudden he might be our starter. Kids gotta be doing something great. Let the best player play..you know BO will

I want them to run the wildcat with Burkhead the first play of the game. That would put a smile on my face.
I've read/heard this over and over again. It would be fun/funny, but what I would do is bring out Ron Kellogg III (scout team player of the year) and soak up 80,000 fans saying at one moment: "whaaaaaaaaat"!

Now THAT would be funny!!!!

Big Willie laughed about this a page or three ago. Rumor was that Martinez had left the program on that mysterious day, and just a short time later he was rumored to be the starter. Now that rumor is gaining momentum daily. Funny how the rumor mill works.

There is one good thing about this whole QB debate, though. We're one week from the season opener and I have yet to see one thread asking, "When will Bo give out the Blackshirts" around here.

Flat wrong.

I feel like we can celebrate Martinez's debut without having to put down a guy like Zac that gave his all for us last year.

But to each his own.

agreed, the fact is all of our qbs work their butts off day in and day out, they all deserve a little respect and will do their best for us when their name gets called, and thats really all we can ask of them

you tempt me knapplc.

Hey I appreciate all the work Zac Lee has done and the effort he has given to make us a better football team. He has put in his time and got his chance last year and will now be a great backup and sideline "headset coach." It is a fact though that he is not the best qb we have. It is also shocking to me how people on this board can be so ignorant and will rip on someone when they try to share their point of view, which was a legitimate point of view all along, but somehow think that they are these all knowing, most knowledgeable fans ever, and anyone who disagrees with them is stupid and has no clue what they are talking about.

I had an epiphany today. Let's (generously) assume Martinez is the 6th best play maker on offense, behind Roy, Rex, Niles, Kinnie, and McNeil. If he's QB, he'll be getting a lot more designed run, and we'll run the ball more. Which means our top 5 playmakers will be getting the ball less. With more QB runs and RB runs, that means that Niles (arguably our best playmaker on O) will be seeing less amount of action out of anyone.

So why would we put the ball in he hands of our 6th best offensive weapon more, and give less opportunity to out best playmaker?

I submit we put Lee in at QB and let him distribute the ball to all of our best playmakers.
