HuskerBoard Awards

Landlord PMed me and would like to give this a go. His original thread pitching the idea is HERE.

Was this ever finalized, or still in the planning stages? If we do run with this, I think it would be perfect to do it between the end of regular-season play and the bowl game. That would give him about a month to prepare and another near-month to run the thing.

In other news, I'm planning on doing the HuskerBoard Starting Lineup in January again. Any objections?

Definately yes as to the HuskerBoard Starting Lineup.

I have no problem with Landlord's idea, with a few exceptions:

1. In his original presentation, there were two questions that were potentially inflamatory. Don't recall what they were specifically, but they were along the lines of "Worst New Member". We'd want to review the categories with an eye toward that before we approved it.

2. Landlord, in what little experience I had with him on this and other things, is very good at coming up with an idea like this, but then letting it fall to the wayside. If I recall correctly, he came up with another idea. I told him to go ahead. He didn't do anything for a while, then it kind of died. The same thing happned to this idea - I gave him the go-ahead (we had a numbr of PMs on it). He eventually asked that the idea be tabled because he was too busy. Seems that he'll hit the board for extended periods, then drop off for months at a time.

3. Number 2 leads me to this one - I, for one, don't want to be responsible for this. If there's going to be any work in it, we either need one of us to volunteer to do it, or give it to Landloard. For example - will there be a tally? Will we post up the "winners?" Will be award something similar to the HuskerBoard Starting Lineup designations? If so, who is going to do all that?

4. When would we run it? I personally don't like doing this during the season - we need things like this during the dead periods. One of those is right after recruiting. Another is about a month after the Red-White game. I'd personally prefer we do it during those times in the hope that it would keep some members around during those times and keep the post count up for advertising purposes. But that's just my thought on that.

Sure, why not. Doesn't have to be official or anything. Not too sure about 'overrated.' A concern would be if we can't do it without having it be official, what consequences there might be out of it. Seems like good harmless fun for the most part, though.

basically if Landlord wants to do it one of us needs to sponsor him or "co-sign" for him.

I agree that Landlord needs to do it, if he messes it up so be it. I also agree with AR that we should wait until a dead period to do this as it would be a "filler" so to speak. The month between the regular season and bowl game might be okay, but it depends how involved it is going to get.

I want to get back to Landlord about this so he can start making plans.

Do we all agree that immediately after Recruiting is over is a good time to run this? I'm going to run the Starting Lineup right after the bowl game, which is on January 1st (presuming we make the Fiesta Bowl). That should end just after Signing Day, which is February 2, 2011. Landlord could run his thing immediately after Starting Lineup ends.

Sound good?

Do we have any volunteers to sponsor/co-sign this for him? Or are we going to let him run the show? I would prefer not to since I'm already running the Starting Lineup.

Also - are we still interested in doing the Caption Contest? This could run all offseason after Landlord's deal is done. Mike used to run this and it needs a sponsor.

I'm open for sponsorship. Caption contest was on of my favorites, but wherever I'm needed...
Awesome! Would you be so kind as to contact Landlord and start hammering out the details of what this thing is going to be? If he changes it much from his original proposal we should probably discuss it here, but otherwise tell him he's on for after Signing Day.

Had a thought about Starting Lineup and wanted to get opinions. I thought it would be good to prohibit people from holding the same position two years in a row. You can still be voted in, but you can't be the Head Coach twice, or QB twice. Good idea? Dumb idea?
