Huskerboard.com t-shirts

Good question. I think it's safe to say that it's derivative of the orignal submission (remember, the look has been altered from the original he submitted) and the changes were extensive enough to claim derivative status. So, we should be good to use it.

We don't need to stick with the logo either, especially as transient as it is. Regardless of the legal side, members may ask why their artwork being used isn't turning money for themselves.

Good point. And the most important thing is to get Huskerboard.com in big, bold letters that can be seen from the next county.
Then might I suggest this?

Yeah we did create some board shirts a few yrs ago as Eliot linked above, and I still have a couple dozen.

I could see the benefit in offering a fresh design, maybe a little more simplistic than the big red code shirt.

With that said, I'll say this:

  •
  • Feel free to either come up with some designs within our mod circle -- OR - run a contest -- winner would receive a couple free ones -- if we did a contest we could put the terms that the designer agrees to release design rights to the shirt.
  • I'm willing to use some board funds to make a relatively small purchase.
  • The person I got the previous shirts wasn't the cheapest, but he's a friend and actually a darn good designer himself. So if we need help with the design he's worth using, otherwise I suggest we explore some cheaper alternatives that are licensed by the U.
  • I highly recommend keeping the designs to a minimum -- 1 or maybe 2 designs at the most. I also recommend ordering very small qty's. It's very easy to lose money in the shirt biz if you don't move high volumes. I have a basement full of old designs that just aren't fresh anymore. White elephant here they come..
  • I won't be able to help with managing the inventory. So we would need a volunteer to agree to keep the inventory at their place, re-order when needed, and ship the orders. This volunteer would receive a couple free shirts for their time.

So if someone is up for

1) contacting a print shop to get prices

2) running the design contest

3) managing the inventory

I'm good with it, and will front the $$.

I think I just had a ceremony and burned my old ones. I got good use out of them though.............Frank shut it. Think it would be a good idea to give this a go again.

Good idea, that would allow us to test the market & see which ones are the most popular. then we can considering inventory for lower prices.

Is anyone interested in running with this like Helurkhead?
