Saban & Alabama commit recruiting violation with Barry Sanders Jr.

The son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Barry Sanders was in Tuscaloosa Saturday as the University of Alabama football program hosted its annual junior day for high school prospects in the Class of 2012.
Sanders, a highly-touted running back prospect from Oklahoma City, was also shown on the large video board inside the Alabama arena during the first half of the game, which prompted cheers from Crimson Tide fans and a “We Want Barry!” chant to go up in the Alabama student section.
NCAA Rule 13.11.5 (pdf) states:
An institution may not introduce a visiting prospect at a function (e.g., the institution’s sports award banquet or an intercollegiate athletics contest) that is attended by media representatives or open to the general public.

This one will be interesting, I don't see how a cameraman flashing a shot of a recruit sitting next to a coach equals an announcement of a player.

Come on you guys know the SEC doesn't get in trouble for anything! Saban will claim that "he had no idea this was going to happen" and "I will pay more attention to these kind of things". In other words...NOTHING will happen!

The NCAA is a joke and until they actually start laying down the law, the con artist known as the SEC will continue to pull these scams.

Its not a major violation, and Alabama will probably self report and just get a little slap on the wrist. The point is that, the SEC and other bigger schools have become more prone to "bending the rules" to sway kids.

YAWN!!!! Nothing to see here. If Cam Newton is able to play this is nothing more than a quiet non smelling fart in a public place. Now if little Barry is able to get a scholly slot in the oversigned class that is the question.

I think he meant recruiting wise.

Green's suspension is honestly one of the few times I can remember the NCAA getting involved and banning somebody. Most of the time it's self imposed by the head coach or the higher ups.
