Lincoln Bars

So, some of you might have noticed that most of my posts are about bars and drinking :)

I don't live in Lincoln anymore but I am in Omaha now, which bars in Lincoln do you like before and after games? I know some of you will say Sidetracks but I have never been impressed with that place. I would rather go to a bar where the girls hair goes father down their bodies then their boobs do.

 
I turned 21 in November after we had already played all of our home games, so I don't have any personal experience in the matter. I can, however, tell you some of the places my friends have liked and also tell you the places I like to go in general.

For the most part, we like Iguana's Pub, Main Street, the Watering Hole, Duffy's, Hours and Fat Toad's.

Main Street would be your quintessential college bar where the drinks are cheap and the college girls are plentiful. They have insanely cheap weekend night specials (i.e. $1 long island iced teas, Welsh (spelling?) of course) but they will sometimes have a $3 cover charge. That said, even with a cover charge, the $1 monster and vodkas are pretty popular.

Hours has a lot of seating but is also somewhat of a dance club. Iguana's is almost always packed to the rim on weekend nights. Again, these are two very popular college hangouts.

Duffy's, on the other hand, is one of my favorite places. It has a lot of televisions and has a pretty laid back feel to it. You'll get some older people in here but there's also a good mix of people in their 20's. Kind of makes me think of a graduate student hang out place.

Fat Toad's is also a sit-down/dance bar with some pretty interesting specialty drinks. Another college hangout in my experience.

The Watering Hole has pretty cheap drinks AND some of the best wings I've ever had in my life (ask for the charbroiled wings - they're not on the menu :thumbs ).

Anyways, those are my suggestions.

Where is Fat Toads?

The new Cliffs is okay, I guess to you it would just be Cliffs, I am just older then you!

We hit Brothers too, I see you didnt mention that, dont you like it?

I've been to Brothers once but never been to Cliff's. We don't usually walk by Brother's to go downtown or to come back to the apartment, so we end up forgetting about it most days.

Fat Toad's is on O street I think - on the same block or very close to Main Street.

 
I heard sidetracks isn't gonna open for spring game because of damaged next door from a fire. I believe the side walk closed on that block.

The building immediately adjacent to the Track is being demolished and I doubt you could even get to the front door right now. I'll have to see if the Band is playing elsewhere.

I've been to Brothers once but never been to Cliff's. We don't usually walk by Brother's to go downtown or to come back to the apartment, so we end up forgetting about it most days.

I went to Brother's before the OU game in 09. Had a damn good time. Met the High Life guy there. He and some fine High Life ladies were handing out a lot of free stuff.

I went to Brother's before the OU game in 09. Had a damn good time. Met the High Life guy there. He and some fine High Life ladies were handing out a lot of free stuff.

Is brothers the one that smells like a combination of piss and spilled beer?

I think you might be thinking of the Downtown. (or . . . really . . . almost all O Street bars.)

I used to love Main Street, Iguanas, and Sandy's. Now I feel a little old at those bars and usually go to Harry's, Jakes, or the Watering Hole.

 
The Sidetrack Band will be playing at Hour Lounge. They open at 10 am Saturday, and should be playing before and after the game.

 
I'm not a big fan of brothers anymore, it takes too long to get a drink anymore. Main Street, and Iguana's is usually where you will see me. However the longer the night goes on, I don't even know where you'll end up seeing me. Maybe Jimmy Johns. :D

Havent been to brothers since I waited 19 minutes for a beer one time. I pretty much had to yell at the bartender to serve me. As the 20 dollar bill I had waving in front of me wasnt a clue enough. Besides the chicks that hang out their are bunch of skanks. Not saying thats wrong, just not some peoples cup of tea.
