I was all set to respond to chris and.... b-rent and all, but you know what? I've had a bottle of wine. And I'm in a good mood. I may just have another one tonight. So +1 for everyone from my last post in this thread to this one. :D

I'm of the group that I think one will redshirt (at least I hope so). As far as who will actually be #2, it's hard to say. I would go with Green as I think Heard may have more "current" talent. Now that is talking both senior years, I know that Heard was a year prior, but he has been out of the game for a year. I didn't play much football in highschool, college, etc., but I have to assume with any sport, it would be similar. I did play a lot of baseball. And IF is is any indication to football, Heard may have to redshirt, or at least take a few weeks into the season to get into "football shape". Just my opinion.

I can assure you that Green won't redshirt. I am almost positive the staff implied he could play right away during his recruitment. If anyone redshirts, I think it will be Abdullah.

I think if any of the three redshirt, it will be Green. Probably size.

if anybody redshirts, I think it is Heard, nobody has a clue what shape he is in after a year off!!

 
Tough call, but I will go with Heard and Green being a solid #2 behind Burkhead. I think those two will get a bulk of the carries with Ameer redshirting to build strength. With Marrow being a short yardage back/goaline back.

For some reason (completely unsupported by anything, really) I think Abdullah is going to be huge for us. I don't know why, but ever since he snuck into that recruiting class I've been really excited about him.

Green and Heard, well...it's hard not to get excited when you think about what kind of damage we'll be able to inflict out of our backfield in the next few years. Those two both have the look of players who can go the distance on any play, at any time. We all keep hearing about how good Wisconsin's run game is, but I bet we give them a run for the rep for having the best run offense in the B1G in the next couple of years.

As for next year? I would love to see Green get the redshirt, but I bet it'll be Heard who gets a year to get back into the swing of things. Green and Abdullah will share #2 duties. Both will give cause for optimism. Both will fumble like freshmen and really grind our gears.

All I know is, that sure seems like an imposing trio coming to our backfield. God, I love Nebraska football.
