Wins are such a terrible metric to judge a pitcher by.

Depends on the league you're in. In mine, they're THE metric. Wins count for ten points. That's a significant chunk of change.

And John Lackey hasn't lost since July 4. And he blows. So, I guess judging a pitcher solely on wins could be construed as.....

I'm guessing your league is roto? Mine's H2H. Lackey has been the 25th-ranked pitcher since 07/04 in my league. Again, depends entirely on your scoring system.
