Can we proclaim ourselves?

Eric, speaking of gift certificates - are we going to be able to do the prediction contest this year? And if so, do we stick to the change last year of each contest being a $30 certificate?

It's been a staple since I've came here so I hope we continue to do it. I think the members enjoy it.

So have caption contests, and we've (the mod crew) dropped the ball on those. I'm surprised nobody has said anything, because they were pretty popular. I'd like to see us get back to doing those again.

Two days later, we're up to 8,314. And HuskerPedia is about to implode, the way these guys are talking.

Also, it seems as though most of those members that just joined Pedia, from what our new members are saying, are just Max people there to stir up trouble. Not much of a long-term growth deal there.

The key is going to be integrating the new members into our culture. We allow things other boards didn't, and disallow some things other boards didn't care about. I think a lot more personal bickering went on at Pedia, the way it sounds, and some of the new guys are bringing that over here. I've kept on top of several little fires (see reports in the Report section), but we're all going to have to be "all hands on deck" with this stuff over the next several weeks until new folks get to understand that you can't just take a shot at a guy you don't like.

I've created a thread in the Shed about grudges/gripes carried over from other boards, and I've PMed a couple of people over this issue as well. So far it's nothing serious, but firmness and consistency are going to be the key. I just keep telling people to take grudges to the Shed, and keep the regular forums free for football discussion.

There are going to be the inevitable bad apples. We'll just have to sort them out and keep ahead of the problems.

Some of the people who've come over are going to be trouble.............that's obvious. We're huskerboard, not huskerpedia and I think there is going to be some difficulty with the transition, but we'll get through it.

 
People are starting to get testy with eachother given the huskerpedia folks are from a different board and act differently. It's only a matter of time before they either blow up or get over the transition.

We just have to keep being who/what we are. There's a reason everyone likes this board so much once they get here. The 'pedia guys will have to adapt because if we change, we're going to lose a ton of old members.

I appreciate the contributions of several members from 'pedia. But some of these guys are very trying. I have a full PM box of gripes and complaints, and they're all former 'pedia members bickering about each other. I just keep telling them that what happened there has no bearing on what happens here.

That place must have been a disaster. I cannot fathom how they had so many members if this group is indicative of what their boards were like.
