My Take on the Game

Seems all I read when we go into a bowl game is about the other teams speed. Bo has been recruiting speed, since hes been here. I think we match up just fine, in this area. Getting our guys to play the coverage their supposed to, seems to be the problem, I have noticed all year. Our linebackers waiting for the ball carrier instead of attacking [except David] is one of the things I have noticed, and has been talked about. db's biting on the first move, a lot of missed tackles on first contact.

Ronznotes is right about Bo and time to prepare. He does very good with the extra time to get ready. jmo.

i've watched our DB's get burned all season, lack of speed or out of position, take your pick, our secondary well get torched, especially with no pass rush whatsoever.

 
It comes down to how well our OL can block their DL that happens to be the best in the country. If they don't then Taylor will get pummeled and will likely turn the ball over since NU is statistically the worst ball security team in the country and we will get taken behind the woodshed.

I hope Beck comes up with a good game plan for that DL because we are going to need to out coach USC because we don't' have the talent on the OL to match up with them.

I think it comes down to the type of game - if NU never trails by more than 7, I think we'll be able to wear down and out coach SC. If NU is slow to defend the speed or if the O-line is overwhelmed early and we have to abandon the running game, we'll lose and probably lose ugly. I think we'll out scheme them, but we can't let them use their speed to change our schemes.

Only one key to the game is probably required - NU rushing for 200 yards.

I have been saying it all year and I'm not going to waiver. I don't think our DB's are that bad. We need to get any kind of pressure on the QB. I think this is the biggest factor that will decide the game and I'm surprised no one is talking about it.

Bo has taken the reigns of the D back and he has had some time to prepare. I'm really looking forward to see what he has come up with.

our front 4 will not be able to bring any pressure, blitzing is a gamble, but without it we will get picked apart...SC will have 300 yards passing.

Hai back. We beat the crap outta that team. The only reason we didn't beat them a second time is because we didn't want to play them in that bowl. What an insult to us to have to play them again. I'm so glad that Baylor beat them last night.

The same Db's that held the best 2 WR's in the Big 10 to a combined 4 catches for 29 yards, once they figured out WTF they were doing? If we get burned, it will be because the DL doesn't get there at all.

we all know Fonz is the exception, the rest of the guys back there would have to play lights out and i have little confidence in the D line puting any pressure on their qb, if they do, it will be a first for the year.......we were horrible at containment and providing any hurry ups on qbs this year.......not good, it is simply reality of who we have been all year.
