Personal experience of police wasting tax payers money

It's obvious to me that some in this thread don't dig cops and that's fine. However I'm not going to try and explain all the aspects of the job for several reasons the main one being you can't understand the job unless you are doing it. Just remember that officers make a meager salary doing a job most couldn't/wouldn't want to do. We work sh**ty hours away from our families including holidays because we live for the job. Next time you see a cop thank them for their service. It's a thankless job with countless horrible situations. In my 10 years I've been on the job I've been shot at, stepped over dead bodies to go after the person that murdered them, had to tell parents that their child is deceased, stepped toe-to-toe with gang bangers, been in well over 50 fights, been wrongly accused of assaulting people, held a baby as she took her last breaths on earth 6 short months into her life, ran up to burning car wrecks while people scream in pain and I can do nothing but watch, been exposed to several infectious diseases, drove my vehicle well over a hundred miles per hour so many times I've lost count, and did all these things while my children grow up with me away from the home, I've buried good friends, watched children cry from losing their father and hoped that mine never have to feel that pain, spent many sleepless nights not being able to close my eyes from the visions haunting my dreams. So if you have something bad to say about law enforcement excuse me while I tell you to kiss my rear.
They are professiononals and don't aways act as such. It's not uncommon to come across a bully/power abusing cop...and there are degrees to this. There are many great cops. My uncle is a great guy and I'm sure he was a great cop when he was one in Dallas. I'm witnessed great police work too. Earlier someone mentioned the circle the wagons that many cops do when any of them come under attack. This just throws fuel on the fire. Often instead of just admitting when other cops mess up...it's common for them (in my experience) to do the "mone along...nothing to see here". Again, this is just adding fuel to the fire no matter what profession it happens in. You did the same thing when you came into this thread to a small degree. You assumed it was I that did something more than I was saying...or there was more to the story...as if the cops couldn't have done anything wrong or questionable. Later when backed into a corner you did say IF the story happened as I stated than they could have acted better. As a professoinal I would have expected that to happen at the start. Instead of providing cover for bad cops...good cops should hold them accountable IN PUBLIC. Afteralll it's those cops that give you all a bad rep.

When I was visiting my retired cop uncle in Dallas it was the time of the story of a cop holding up a driver that made a wrong turn while he was on his way to see his dying mom at the hospital...he made him stay outside the hospital while he lectured him..even after a hospital employee said his mom was dying. The guy never made it in time to see him mom before she died. When I saw the story w/ my uncle, right away he said the cop handled it very poorly. He made no excuses and that was that. I posted this story on HP and the resident cop there made every excuse for the cop.

It also keeps the ashes hot when it seems cops rarely receive any significant consequences when they do wrong. Sort of like bad teachers. Maybe it's a union thing w/ cops too?

I realize it can be a grueling job and maybe the pay isn't great. But arethe benefits really good w/ great pensions and early retirement? Or is that in just some cities?

It's also common to see videos of cops doing bad things and that just makes people think it happens a lot more when there are not cameras around.

I'm sure many cops go through a lot, but that doesn't give them a free pass to do bad things. I understand the "you wouldn't understand unless you've been a cop". I hear and give the same excuse to peole that complain about how farmers treat animals. There is SOME validity to this excuse...but it's not 100% valid. For the farmers...it's not as bad as PETA people say, but it is bad/inexcusable at times to a degree. And let's face it...EVERYONE/group can use that excuse to an outsider as a way to excuse bad behavior.

I have found that law enforcement officers wold rather you stay in your vehicle. Getting out before you are asked to is most likley considered to be 'an aggressive move.' These officers don't know if you have a weapon or not but if you act in an aggressive way the best thing for them to assume is that you do have a weapon.

Also from the posts I have seen here on HB that are authored by Cactusg___ I find it hard to believe that his comments were polite rather that sarcastic and basically uncalled for in the situation described.

Next time around park your car close to the girls door, leave it running, walk her to the door and say good night, go back to your car and go home.

Law enforcement officers have their lives on the line every minute they are on duty. In the last two years South Dakota has lost four officers who were in the line of duty. Every chance I get I let them know that they are appreciated.

T_O_B
You get what you give w/ me....be it on HB or in real life. The vast majority of time I'll even give benefit of the doubt the first time and ignore it.

and I wasn't pulled over. They weren't even walking up to my car when I opened the door. If I got out or waited in my car had no affect on what happened.

yeah, cactusboyOG is the same poster who had a similar problem with police a few years ago when they gave him a speeding ticket. he set up a court date (even after admitting he was speeding) and ended up being extremely unprepared. he felt like the cop had no right to give him a ticket and he claimed the cop was a d!(k even though he was not. a lot of times people don't realize when they are being rude to someone, especially when they're insisting they did nothin wrong. just sayin

if you went into the encounter with the "i'm doing nothing wrong" despite you admitting you parked like one of those a-holes in the big trucks who think they can park anywhere...i doubt you were just some polite dude getting treated poorly by the police. i also doubt they were called to your location because you were illegally parked. someone probably saw a vehicle in the parking lot that was left running and for sum reason thought it was suspicious. or perhaps there had been burglaries in that area and a resident called when they thought u were casing the area when you said you couldnt find somewhere to park, and perhaps that resident became suspicious when they saw u drive up on a curb and no resident get out of the vehicle.

when the cops contact you, change up your attitude. instead of always having the "but i did NOTHING WRONG!" attitude, u at the very least were parked up on the curb. a simple "my bad, i couldnt find a spot and i was in a hurry, i'll move it" probably would have made for a more pleasant counter.
LOL What was your name on HP and why did you change it to my name on HP?

You know the cop wasn't a d!(k? Funny because after court he talked to me and apologized for how he acted. and how wasn't I prepared for the case? I got he cop to admit the speed he estimatd for me could have been wrong because he had to speed up to pace me. The judge simply choose to uphold the ticket anyway. I wasn't sure what speed I was going at..it could have been over the limit, but I knew it wasn't as fast as the cop said.

The real question is has there been any followup dates or did the cop thing scare her off? :P

The cops eneded up being great wing men. Because I had said I had some drinks earlier in the night they made me stay with her instead of leave. :)

Which again makes it confusing as if to why they didn't at least give me a field test.

Not to you, but if anyone thinks I could be a d!(k, wise a$$, loud mouth, etc...ask someone that knows me first hand. At least HP/M peopel can. Ask Red Phoenix, Nems, or Sonuva.

Why when I read your posts do I hear a whinny little girl? The its not uncommon... You hear about it all the time... And there are vidios posted all the time... Arguments are a load of dung. If you are so right come to South Dakota and make your arguments to the wfe and two youngins' of the Deuty Sherrif who was killed by a guy he was just checking up on because his family hadn't heard from him in a week. Or the family of the unarmed corrections officer who was beaten to death by two inmates trying to escape. Or the families of the two officers who were killed in Rapid Cith earlier this year.

I was just parked up on a curb and they sent four squad cars after me, and then they were snotty to me... Wah... wah... wah. Again, MAN UP.

Yeah when you you get caught doing someting stupid man up and take your medicine and stop acting like a spoiled little girl.
Since I'm the one you replied to last and the manner of that reply, I'm assuming that was to me. There was no medice to take. They didn't write me up for anything. BIGREDIOWAN even ended agreeing w/ my opinion on how the situaion I explained SHOULD have been handled.

goes both ways. tell your stories to the familes of the people that have been killed, or beaten up by cops unjustly.

Cops are professionals. They know what they are getting into when the choose to be one. Don't be a cop if you can't handle what they will go through. Or quit if you it's too much. Why can some cops be great cops? Why can they handle the pressures and not make them abuse their power? Maybe they are cut out to be cops and others just aren't.

and now an example of a good cop. There are two ways he could have hanled/approached this situation...in a harrassing dickish way...or how he did it.

Great professional work. He could have easily have been a d!(k when the guy answered it was his right to carry the gun. Or when he didn't give his name right away.

The cop likes that the guy is videoing him. Good for him..as I said cops should always feel like it could be on you tube. Same w/ teachers, doctors, politicians.

multiple cops showing up to your call does not mean they did something bad. go into it with a better attitude next time and you'll probably get treated better.

you appear to always look for a reason to complain about a cop. if you're constantly lookin for a reason to complain, you can probably find something small to whine about...like this example.
