How can I back up email

I googled it and I came out with Outlook express. I researched Outlook express and decided I didn't like that option(can't get it from other computers and security questions). Outside of printing off hard copies, is there a way to backup a yahoo emails? I have many, many emails I wish to save

I have to use outlook for work and while it does have drawbacks I still find it to be a great program. (We can get our outlook emails on different computers but it has to do with how we log in.) On outlook you can make a "pst" file to store all your emails and then save that to a disk or however you like. Maybe with yahoo you can do the same thing, create a folder, place all your emails in it and just drag it to your desktop.

Do you have to save each one separately? I have really let my emails get out of control and it would take a full days or so.

One good thing with web based mail is that you shouldn't have to back it up. Yahoo's servers should have automatic backups in case they ever crash. So you shouldn't need to backup anything on your personal computer.

Maybe some of these options might help you:

Thanks, that really did help. The major consideration with a free email site is that there is no recourse if they lose your emails, or even if they are stolen. I think I will just upgrade to yahoo mail plus, which archives email. Although, several companies are now offering "cloud" services. Maybe this will pertain to email as well.
