I feel your pain. In a previous job I have been to the bowels of Lincoln.

Tell them you are not allowed to take your shoes off per company policy. Tell them it's an OSHA issue or something. Just don't take your shoes off. People griped at me about mud on their carpets and I never caved. Shoes are a necessity, especially in some of these nasty cesspits people call homes.

I have walked on carpets crunchy from animal feces. I have had to brush cockroaches out of my way to work on appliances. I have had to drive as fast as possible to the nearest convenience store to use the hand sink. It's not pretty.

Hand sanitizer is your friend. Be sure to have some on the truck.

I'd completely forgotten about that place. Where was it?

Living next to the Friut Loop was scary enough for me.

 
It was in that magic place, where young students with no money or older residents with no money could come, share a moment, dare to dream, and ponder if this woman, the one that was willing to sit in a rented hot tub, was the one special enough for your heart.

This place didn't exist in Oz, Narnia, or some other magical faraway place, no you could put your heart on your sleeve and lesions on your body at 8th and P.

God dammit that place even existing just creeped the Hell out of me.

 
The water was chlorinated pretty heavily, so if you don't mind going to a pool and swimming in the potty of about half a dozen six-year-olds, the Tubbery wasn't much worse. Any DNA in the water was, hopefully, dead from the chlorine.

 
I strongly dislike it when I can't sleep. My insomnia has improved a great deal over the last year, but tonight is just one of those nights. I can live with the lack of sleep itself, but it always makes my back ache when I don't get a good night's sleep. I'm normally a tough dude, but I'm a wuss when it comes to back pain.
