Doesn't surprise me. I don't know if there are a lot of jobs for programmers in Florida but if there is not i can see why.

I have no issues with raising the athletic budget at schools like Florida, Nebraska ect. These types of places athletics bring in a lot of money and students to the university.

I do think cutting computer science is woefully shortsighted though.

Maybe they weren't getting enough CS students. It is around a warm weather place year around so trying to get students to stay indoors all the time would be hard.

CS is such a fundamental discipline, as many students as UF has (it's a lot, right?) I am stunned that they could cut the dept.
