Woman Sues Nebraska Coach's Foundation

Beverly Morgan sued the Bo Pelini Foundation and volunteer coach Tim Beck in Lancaster County Court, Lincoln, Neb.

The Bo Pelini Foundation, founded by Cornhuskers head football coach Bo Pelini and his wife in 2008, organizes and sponsors an annual football clinic for women called "Football 101," according to the complaint.

Morgan says she was injured in a gauntlet drill in June 2010, in which she ran through two columns of women with blocking pads, who tried to knock the ball out of her hands.

"The women with the pads were encouraged by defendant Beck and/or others in charge of the drill to 'Hit her!' as the ball carrier attempted to get through the gauntlet line," the complaint states.

"Plaintiff, before June 2, 2010, was unfamiliar with football other than as a Cornhusker fan."
1. Attend a fundraiser for breast cancer.

2. Voluntarily participate in contact drills of a football nature.

3. Become injured and sue the charity.

4. Profit.

i guess charities no longer have civil immunity? i should read the article, but is she suing bo and beck individually? also, how serious are the injuries? is this as simple as her insurance bailing on her and she has to find money somewhere to cover her bills?

First line of what I quoted. She sued the Bo Pelini Foundation (not Bo himself) and Tim Beck (himself).

This has to be the dumbest thing I've read all week, and I've been spending a lot of time on ESPN.

Americans and their incessant need to sue people is just embarrassing.

Man, you would think someone would have thought of a waiver of liability or hold harmless waiver or something before they'd out people through drills like that. It's sad that it's come to having to do stuff like that when this was all in good fun.

We're going to need to refrain from calling this person names in this thread. Disagree with what she's doing, but don't slander her.
