  • Does the Menards Rebate actually exist?

I've never really cared to worry about it until this summer when we have spent several thousand dollars at the store.  We are about 8 weeks out from our first mailing. Still nothing...

My wife did tell me she submitted a few "small" claims before: we never got it.  I asked a few neighbors: two said they submitted but the price wasn't big enough to make a stink about it when it never came.

My thing is there is no way a company can market this and not come through at a very high success rate.  Am I wrong?

I have saved and sent in all my rebate receipts for many years now. Mine usually take 3 to 4 weeks to arrive. For the dollar amount you mentioned it would be worth checking to see why you haven't received it. Maybe your mail person is intercepting them?

So the ads at the bottom of the screen have "dialogue" now???  WTF!  I spent way too much time figuring out where in the hell the "commentary" was coming from.

Left your incognito tab open again didn't ya?

What started off as a "routine" replacement of rotors and pads on my truck has turned into new caliper brackets along with sending it to the shop to even get my front passenger wheel off.  The lug nut and stud just spin, hoping I don't have to buy a new hub.

The only advice I'm looking for: what breed of horse would be good in town?  I'm tired of car expenses!

Shetland Pony. The kids love ‘em.

Following the OPS board meeting on the OWH website.  Doesn't sound like members of the school board and most public commenters are fond of the idea of having kids in buildings,  even at half enrollment. It will be interesting to see what they do...

As goes OPS, so goes the rest of the city.

Sadly, this meeting was held way late because well..."normal" people should not be allowed on a school board, only educators should be allowed on it.  So now we have OPS teachers back in the building with new teachers back in the building a week ago...and NOW there is a meeting.  There should have been two meetings every week since April.

Seeing articles about packed beaches over the 4th.  My question:  why on Earth do people enjoy this?  Pandemic or not...

This is like trying to manage getting in and out of North Stadium without the enjoyment of attending an actual football game...

I love beaches almost as much as I hate crowded beaches.

I absolutely hate big crowds like that, so that beach would be hell for me.  However, the fam went to Lake Mac last week and it was fun.  We were there on Monday and Tuesday, so wasn't dealing with any crowds, thankfully.

I'll gladly take the local lake where we pull our boat up to the point with about 5-10 other boats.  A beach like that doesn't look fun to me.  I'll take a beach with very few people any day.

Tonight I learned that smoked pork chops do not require as much rub as a pork butt.  Wow!  I'm drinking a beer per bite!

@funhusker watch Malcolm Reed on How to BBQ right, youtube.  Dude is amazing!!!

    His smoked shrimp, my god!

His pork belly burnt ends, WOW

I once tried smoking a beef roast for a "faux brisket".  I put on so much salt for a rub, it was like I was trying to bring meat across the Atlantic on the Mayflower.

Needless to say, it didn't turn out well.

I once made that mistake with ribs that were pre-cut, instead of still being a rack. Turns out if you season the sides, too, it's way too much seasoning. :dumdum

To any parents out there: what do you guys think about the remote learning your district is having your kids do?  Positives, negatives?

The feedback I hear is normally good because people realize it isn't my call.  I'm just doing what the district says.

But my wife is part "West Omaha Moms" FB group and she says the overall perception is "not good".  Many parents in the group seem to be frustrated with the time requirements...

How would you feel if your school district did nothing- like mine? I’m furious as a tax payer. And it’s not the teachers fault- it’s the districts.

Praise to all the teachers who are finding a way to do their thing. you all are some creative and resilient mammals!

    @krc1995 yeah, that’s no good!

Im definitely glad we’re doing something.  I’m giving kids 2 options for assignments: a computer based one they can do on the couch or a more active one like measuring rooms in there homes or taking inventory of light bulbs.

I don’t want to give too much, but we’re also not done with school.  My only “issue” is our districts “requirement” to use Zoom to meet for class. I normally “lectured” my classes for about 5 minutes (maybe a half hour per week), now I’m holding them captive for an hour a week.  I’m making it work, but a learning curve for sure!

My kid's school is using google classroom, which hasn't had any issues that I'm aware of but I hear a lot of complaints about zoom from other parents. His 3rd grade teacher gives assignments for the whole week on Monday morning and then meets for 30-60 every M-W-F. My son really likes it because he can get the work done early in the week and basically have a long weekend.

Since he's getting things done so early in the week, I've been making him watch an educational video with me every day that he gets to pick (he usually picks science or nature).

Once we get back to normal, I hope "technology" is removed from the classroom!

We've spent that past 15+ years hearing about how we need to integrate tech into our classrooms.

Now, at the drop of a hat, we are required to spend 30 minutes a day teaching "face to face" via computer.  Using that time to have kids watch videos and use the web aren't recommended....wtf????

Yeah, your principal's idea is sane!  The other idea is insane.

Can you give them logic puzzles to do in the breakout rooms, I mean, that is at least in the ballpark of what you team, sort of.  You are in a tough spot!

I am so glad I teach Sanskrit...Something that is easy to do over zoom and super useful!

I'm adamant that what I teach will still be industrial tech.  I have a coworker at a different school doing things like "logic" puzzles and inventor research.

It the district leaved it to me to do whatever I want, I'm going to the pasture with a bucket of balls and giving a Zoom lesson on "angles" and "measurement", a.k.a. loft and distance...

I'm licking my chops over an admin saying I should make my lessons more "engaging" and "fun"!

Maybe do a lesson on the chemistry behind "home brewing"...hey! that's fun!

Can the HB owners please, for the love of God, get rid of the damn earwax ad?!?!?

OK I'm glad I'm not the only one that was getting this. I was starting to wonder what that said about my browsing habits.

Apparently IU's AD was upset that Frost mentioned how he'd like to play Indiana instead of OSU more.  By just comparing the scores, I don't see how Glass felt "vindicated".   Oh well  ''\o/''

Maybe IU's AD needs to give his balls a tug and realize every team in the country would rather play Indiana than Ohio State. I mean really, what is that guy smoking?

Is that a problem? Maybe Huskerboard is trying to tell you something. It is ok to turn to the dark side.

If "political" posts aren't allowed outside of the P&R forum, shouldn't that also include these huge political ads that are all over the place?

Does the new owner have ANY say on who advertises or is it just random internet marketing???

The organization Sleeping Giants has run a very successful pressure campaign geared towards getting websites to nuke specific ads on their sites - ones for sites they found objectionable.

So it stands to reason that websites who sell ad space have some kind of mechanism to block specific advertisers. Will they? Highly doubt it.

    teachercd

Why don't they just run the ads we really want to see?

    1.  Booze

    2.  Porn

    3.  Food

How hard is it???  This is the internet!!!

That Duke vs. UCF finish was the best of the tourney so far!  Glad my bracket didn't get destroyed, but man, my stomach hurts for that UCF kid!

It is a weird feeling to look out my east facing front door and think, man what a night for a fish fry at the church.  And at the same time, know that just one mile past my west facing back door there are people that have lost absolutely everything.

I have friends who live in the Louisville area and Wahoo. What a mess! They’re just waiting/watching hoping the river will start to recede so that the water doesn’t get into their house!
