  • I'm having a hard time being sad about Norm Macdonald's death because whenever I think about that guy I just start giggling.   And that makes me happy.

@admoin my opinion that's the best stand up comedy set in broadcast television history.  He absolutely knocked it out of the park that night.

I thought he prefers doing that at Gate 25.

Later in the broadcast he was talking about getting the run game going and he said "Nebraska needs to stuff it up their butts".

So, uh, Virginia is giving Illinois the business, eh?

Is it still too early in the year to decide if Illinois is a bad team?

Can we try an option offense now?

How do you feel about Jamey Chadwell's offense at Coastal Carolina? I mean, he is rocking a mullet right now

Yes! How many times last Saturday did you ask ‘Why aren’t we running the dang ball?’

@GSG after watching some of it on YouTube the last couple weeks it looks like a lot of fun to watch and very difficult to defend.

The most convincing thing to me was Urban Meyer talking about an Army vs Michigan game and saying how difficult it is to defend the option and how coaches are always relieved when they get to go back to defending more traditional offenses.

As of 24 hours ago the topic of Scott Frost being fired seemed too taboo to even broach.  Now it's starting to feel like a forgone conclusion.   Fickle fans.

It’s not that surprising. Yesterday was the demarcation point for me. Hopes meet reality……not the exact same timing for everyone.

Watching 1982 Nebraska vs Iowa.  That pure triple option stuff with Craig and Rozier and Fryar all down in a 3 point stance is brilliant.   Virtually impossible to read who's getting the ball.

The defense was dominant on every single play in the first quarter.   Iowa literally didn't gain a yard.

When I watch those games, I love the extra big numbers on the jerseys.  I prefer it that way.  Plus one end zone had HUSKERS in white and the other one was red (NEBRASKA).  The color of the turf was one color.  And the N on the helmet was slightly bigger (with gray masks). Man I like see all that stuff.

Remember when people were calling for the Nebraska basketball coach to be fired after a 22-win season?

    Pepperidge Farm remembers.

All about the right coach.  Look at Bama basketball.  Most SEC wins in a season in 30 years.  Probably getting a 3 seed at worst.

@The Dude I can understand both sides I guess. There is no reason the basketball program shouldn't perform better than it ever has. So expecting more makes some sense. But, at the same time, I'm not sure why anyone actually cares considering it's never really been a thing to have a decent bball program at Nebraska. I guess it would be fun if it was worth watching  :dunno . Certain elements have been better with Fred but he sure hasn't gotten all the pieces they need and, at this point, that is Fred's problem. I do think they've been more exciting to watch since smiles left, so that's something.

There's no reason it should have absolutely tanked once Miles was fired, yet here we are.

@GSGthe facts greatly undermine your "accurate as a drunk dad in the backyard" analysis. You can double down on it or move the goalposts to something besides accuracy, but it doesn't change the numbers.

Boys, boys.....can we agree that a few credible receiving threats and wider use of the playbook would make either QB look really good?  I just don't see where it matters much which one plays QB. Our issues are elsewhere.

I'm also in the camp that wanted to roll with Luke and see what he could do.

But why crap on AM? He clearly gave things his all and went through a lot of crap to try to be the team's leader. Just because it didn't work out for whatever reason doesn't mean he doesn't mean he should be ridiculed.

Props to him for his efforts and hopefully whatever comes next is great for him.

Bold/Not-so-bold statement: Tony Romo is better at color commentary than John Madden was.

John Madden was a lot more down to earth. He always made me laugh.

Romo is a great analyst for sure.  He was also a good QB too.  Somehow he always gets plenty of hate.  Maybe it was the Star on the helmet that turns people off.  Maybe because he liked to golf and was unknown on the bench for years and then got thrown into the fire as a starter.  Before that, when Romo was on the practice squad, the Tuna (Bill Parcells) used to holler at him from audibling...."Tony, just run the play" and Romo would tell Parcells  "Well if I saw this defense I would do this instead..."  He knows what he is talking about from what he see's.  His gamesmanship, talent and toughness wasn't too shabby either.  It translated into a solid NFL career and great analyst too.  FYI, Big Romo fan here.

IMO I preferred Madden, just because of his boisterous character and personality. Romo is a bit more leveled, but he still has wonderful strengths as an analyst.

Truly, truly, his words speak to the nearing of an end then to the Frost era?  Interesting.
