12-Team Playoff On the Way; 14-Team to Follow

Uh, no dude. OSU is still in 100%. Clemson was fringe at best anyway. ACC still gets 1, maybe 2 in.
Uh, yes dude. I wasn't claiming OSU was out. But it puts more pressure on PSU to beat UO due to national perception about their schedule (and Indians).  And the UGA and SC results gives a higher chance of a 3-loss SEC team or two getting in.

Not sure there are 12 teams deserving of the playoff this year, but I guess you have to fill the field.

Hell, not sure there are 4 teams deserving this year.
Bingo! We'll likely have the weakest national champion in our lifetimes unless UO or Texas wins out. Could include Indiana and PSU if either win out.

Georgia was in regardless if they win next week.  SC isn't getting in without a bunch more losses. No need to overreact just yet. Let it play out, that's the fun.

That would happen regardless of expanded playoff, 4 teams or 2.  It’s called parity and it’s been much needed in this sport for decades now
Guess it depends on how one defines "weak." A top 4 of 0 and 1 loss teams that play a P4 schedule is fine for determining a legit national championship.

There were too many instances of bama not even winning their division and getting into the playoffs or title game for my liking to stick with 4.  Having a system where a conf champ was shutout some years also screamed unfair.

the added bonus too is the expanded playoffs added some much needed juice to conf title games again. Now a 3 loss team can stamp there way to post season play with a win in the conf title game. Previously the conf title games were nothing more than a glorified pageant contest unless it was bama and Georgia squaring up

This was always set up to be a SEC invitational.  They are just going to let a few of us be part of it too.

I would say what is happening made this the perfect year to go to 12 teams.   CFB finally has more that a few teams who could win the MNC.

This is why the playoffs are needed. There is so much bias and favoritism in the rankings. It was so idiotic that we left it up to them for so long.

Arizona State - preseason was picked last in the Big 12 after a 3 win previous season, will now be in the playoff and it was not a fluke either.  They earned it.  Their young coach has turned around the program having gone into the portal 2 years ago to get a game changing RB.

Maybe instead of "Chasing Three" Nebraska needs to aim much higher.  We need to be chasing some game changing players from the portal.  So many teams passing us and waving goodbye in their rear-view mirror.
