2011-2015 recruiting and where they are. Might be some of this 2-4

And yeah, the Illinois loss is definitely the most unforgivable. But I don't think that's necessarily indicative of decision making moving forward. They definitely learned their lesson, going ultra conservative Saturday. They got burnt again this time. Let's hope they learn to be smart AND aggressive in that situation moving forward.

If that loss had to happen, at least it was during THIS season while we transition than down the road.
Remind me what part of the Illinois loss was "unforgivable." Was it the 3rd & 7 playcall?
That's the general consensus I believe. I mean, taking a knee would have been better....unless the original call worked. Ha!
Yep.

In spite of it being one of the ugliest, sloppiest games I remember us playing in recent memory, we were in prime position to win. If we run on 3rd down and punt, they get the ball back with at most 12 seconds left to drive at least 80 yards.

That to me is why it's the most gift-wrapped loss. Regrettable, but they'll learn from it.

Maybe these numbers are why the guys at the Daily Nebraskan always predict losses in the prediction threads...

I know Packer on XM continuously harps on this about LSU. But they are losing underclassmen to the NFL. 39 down is nearly two recruiting classes. That had to hurt the past staff as well as this staff. We really have problems, that just about any coach was going to struggle with, and credit being given to the past staff, they kept it afloat, when most likely they should not have.

Recruiting is everything to college football. Saben states it is 24/7/365 and was upset he could not make visits because of practice for the National championship games. Miles does a tremendous job with the kids and they move on quickly it seems. Bama seems to keep their kids..

I hope everyone reads this post, takes a look at it realistically and calms down some

I knew we were short, missed on a bunch, roster management/transfers, but had no idea it was that bad.

Thanks for figuring this out. It makes things easier to swallow.

Count both are much smarter than that. They are only thinking about what might be best for the program, even though we have running battles I know both love Nebraska as much as I do.

Re: Last staff
Kenny, Ameer, and Randy covered up a lot of sins on both sides of the ball.

Great post though, Skersfan. It's nice when the levelheaded come out of the woodwork as well as the lunatics.

Sker we may have the talent on the team, but do we have the talented players able to play, meaning taking meaningful snaps at practice and in game reps. There is a reason we are not rotating player, only one athlete playing QB. This is not new. Roster management has been a problem of the past staff and it was admitted by them. Nearly two recuiting classes down is worse than the sanctions SC was put through.

Keep up the good work Power T. This should be interesting.

Afalava was grades IIRC and Whittaker is apparently still OTT. Has a bio on Huskers.com. He's been injured his whole career here though. Shame. Lot of guys were excited about him as a sleeper OL- had great film- and Afalava had all the talent in the world for a LB.

Ok, these guys are on the team I think... what are they doing?

  • Corey Whitaker
  • Paul Thurston
  • Matt Finnin
  • Zach Hannon
  • Dwayne Johnson
  • Boaz Joeseph
  • AJ Natter
  • Peyton Newell

I'm not even going to do the 2014 or 2015 class.

The groups listed are all the guys we have or had that would be RS Sophomores or older. There is 28-34 of them depending how many of the ???'s are on the team.

Urban Meyer, and Nick Saban wouldn't win with those numbers in year 1. I don't care what you think, it wouldn't happen.

Football doesn't happen in a vacuum. There are extenuating circumstances adversely affecting this team's success.

Most would agree we're a very fluky 2-4. Fluky stuff goes the other way eventually.
