While one men’s basketball recruit is finishing up his official visit with Nebraska today, another may be lining up a trip to Lincoln.

A source confirmed Saturday that Nebraska is in the mix for Joseph Uchebo, a 6-foot-11, 260-pound center from Chipola (Florida) Junior College and a former commit to North Carolina State.

Uchebo, who has visited Pitt and is visiting Minnesota, may also visit N.C. State, Oklahoma State and Nebraska.

A native of Enugu, Nigeria, Uchebo attended Word of God Christian Academy in Raleigh, N.C., but went the junior college route after issues with the NCAA Clearinghouse prevented him from joining the 2011 class at N.C. State.

Uchebo averaged 12.3 points and 12.3 rebounds his freshman season at Chipola but suffered a knee injury and sat out this past season. That means he has three seasons of eligibility.

As for Mikael Herbert, the 6-foot-10, 211-pound forward visiting Lincoln this weekend, it’s important to note he’s not yet received an official offer from Nebraska, which is doing its due diligence in its recruitment of the Finland native.

Nebraska is also interested in a couple of Division I transfers, but until those players are officially released from their current scholarships, we won't likely know their names.

Nebraska has one scholarship opening for the 2013-14 season.

One factor to keep in mind as Nebraska carefully plans its roster: The coaching staff has little wiggle room with its APR (Academic Performance Rating) and can’t afford much turnover, now or down the road.

I don't think Miles will be able to pull it off, but this guy has HUGE potential. After his freshman year at Chipola people were saying the NBA was in his future. If he's healthy, this kid could be a stud.

If he was that good, he would of had an offer. I do not think Miles will fill the schollie without it helping the team. There was also mention of a couple possible transfers. Its time to wait & see what happens next.
