2014 Alternate Unis?

Starting next week through the end of October we add another "official" color to our school. Just like every other school in the nation.

Be ready to welcome lots and lots of pink.

Am I the only one tired of this bs? Isn't a sticker on the back of the helmet good enough? Don't get me wrong love the awareness and the support but can we please just be done with the pink gloves, socks, shoes, armbands, or in Oregon's case, Helmets.

I am most certainly not tired of "this bs."

Wait until you lose someone to breast cancer - your mom, your wife, your daughter, your sister. At that point a little pink doesn't seem like such a big deal, if it helps raise funds to fight breast cancer or it reminds another lady to get screened, possibly saving her life.

And you're a strapping young lad. You're big and strong and sure of yourself. Surely you don't care that someone might snicker if you wear a little pink here or there, right?

I don't give a sh#t if someone has a problem with the pink ribbon patch I wear on my jacket.
Knapp, I think you mistake me and my stance. I don't know your history with it. I certainly did not mean to offend anyone.

I have family who battled breast cancer. I think the awareness is great. Maybe I had a misguided approach but I still stand by my comment off getting rid of the pink gloves, socks, etc...

Nah, not offended. No worries.

Back in my skinnier days I did a lot of cross-country biking (big Tour de France fan here). My bike was ice pink.

I've never thought of pink as unmanly and I don't know why it's considered to be. I have a pink polo I still wear once in a while.

It's a color. Who cares, right?

I get that, but, that isn't the issue. I don't look at it as being a girly color. I just think it gets overdone in football uniforms. That's it.

I mean, october is also liver cancer awareness month, but we aren't throwing a ton of green into our uni's.

September has like 6 "________" cancer awareness's all having their own separate color. None of that is recognized either.

This isn't an "its not fair" thing either. So please no one make it seem that way.

The concept is good but only 25% of the money is going to research and there haven't been any real advances in medicines. Good cause that's mismanaged.
That is a real problem, but there have been advances. I've seen them first-hand. Someone I know and love should by all rights be gone right now, but she's still here thanks to those advances.

Now, are those advances in treatment directly tied to stuff like Breast Cancer Awareness Month? Couldn't tell you. But it can't hurt.

Wearing pink is one of the manliest things a guy can do, because it shows they don't care that a bunch of idiots think it's a girl color.

At the game now. Helmets look awesome, the rest of the uni is cheap looking to me. Now, having said that, the Illini look like Walmart Halloween decorations.....sheesh!

I like the uni's tonight, what I would like to see in the future is the helmets be white chromed with a red chromed N and red chromed stripe or a red chromed helmet with a white N and white stripe.
