*** 2017 Recruiting ***

Eh, the risk of injury is pretty overblown. You could get injured at any time. They played how many games in high school? They could get hurt during off-season lifting. They could get hurt the first day of practice. Injuries happen. Skipping one game lessens that risk but by such a small amount that it's hardly worth talking about. Those guys are all pretty much headed for a redshirt anyway.

Would mean a lot more in terms of PR and goodwill that the slightly reduced risk of injury.
Yes, they played in many HS football games... 8 months prior. So if they had an injury during their HS season, the University already knew about it and actually had a chance to change their mind if they wanted to offer them a scholarship. No one wants to lose a player to injury the DAY before they report. I say DON'T let them play.
Basically the same story with all the guys who played in the national all-star games.

Those games are in Dec-Jan only a few weeks removed from their HS seasons. And any potential injury has 8 months to heal until fall camp.

And how many of those guys got any sort of a serious injury in the last 5 years? How many Shrine Bowl guys got any sort of a serious injury in the last 5 years?

Doesn't sound like we have much of a shot with Badet anymore. Took a visit to WVU that he really enjoyed and has one set in March with OU. Only listed Troy and Oregon as other potential visits at this time. Guess we have till April though right? Really don't see how it'd hurt to go hard after this guy. He won't eat up a scholarship for '18 class, would immediately impact the team, and we wanted another receiver anyway.

He announced a top 5 awhile back and we weren't in it.
