Read it in either Journalstar or world Herald earlier today. Scott frost was quoted as saying it.

The Huskers could go up in the rankings, too. Frost said Nebraska intends on signing between 24 and 27 prospects in the 2018 class. If NU goes north of 25, it’d be the largest recruiting class since 2008, when Bo Pelini signed 28 in his inaugural class.

“We’re only going to sign players that we know a lot about and can come help us,” Frost said. “The last thing you want to do in your first year is have knee-jerk reactions and try to sign guys just to sign them. We’re going to be careful.”

We currently have 20 commits plus two transfers.  The limit would seem to be 23 but Frost says 24-27 so.....

Sounding like Mapieu will not sign but if we have extra spots maybe he shows up later?

  • For sure one OL, maybe two with the higher number?: Bell -> Lawrence/Robinson
  • One OLB: JJB ->  Baldonado
  • One RB: Washington or bust
  • One DB for sure, maybe two: Taylor a likely commit, Palmer back in the picture (kind of) -> Torain/Montgomery
  • Tago a likely commit
  • We'd be open to adding another WR: Hunt -> Hall
  • Maybe Ogbonnia at DT

Vedral is also being considered a walk-on at this point.  He probably won't be put on scholarship till next year from the sounds of it.

If we sign 24-27 kids on signing day, I am going to be very satisfied with Frost's first class.  I'm assuming if that happens, Smith and Mapieu both signed also....and with that number, I'm fine with that.

We must be feeling good about 18 class, I see big uptick in 19 offers last few days. Going after higher rated guys in that class. Mostly all .90 -.99 kids. Like the aggressive approach
