Actually, yes.  There seems to be some provision that if Riley would have used up 75% of them before he was fired we would have gotten some extras.  Not sure on the details of that but it was alluded to this week.

Like you said, I'm not really worried about the rest of this class.  But it will stink that we apparently will be basically be unable to take advantage of the April-June window for OVs.

ADs are going to start scheduling all of their alotted OVs the day before they fire the coach  ;)

Right now, that is not the issue.  The issue is the 85 total.  If all the current commits sign and qualify, I think they are at 82.  So, that would only leave 3 more unless some current scholarship players aren't on scholarship come this summer.  I wonder how aggressive the staff is going to get about oversigning.  Being a new staff, the current players' allegiance is more to their teammates and not the coaches.  So, do they really want to put themselves in a position where they have to "process" a player that could end up souring some guys on the team creating dissension, a divided locker room, etc.

Also, if there is known attrition at this time I think that would be public, because you would want that out there before the second national signing day and you wouldn't want those players participating in spring practice.  The only thing that I can think of that would be known but not reported would be 5th year seniors that they aren't keeping on scholarship that still decide to stay with the team.

Yes, we are at 82 right now.

The thing is, I don't think future attrition matters.  That's why they let you over-sign by 3 - to account for future attrition.  But I still don't think there is a way to get past 88 right now, which is six more commits.  

As far as I know, the only way it can be more than that is if someone else who we think is still on the team really isn't.  But that's usually fairly easy to find out once classes start.  But we haven't heard anything else so.....

 


Is this one of them posts directed at kids in the deep south to show them Lincoln is actually a city and not a cornfield with a stadium in the middle?
