***2018 Recruiting***

Here is something to ponder. Can we just take a second and think about how good a job this staff is doing. We have a QB coach who is recruiting a QB every cycle not once in a while. A running backs coach who will take one or two a cycle and then recruit other positions. And Frost and his staff have more than doubled the wide receiver room scholarship numbers, all in a month and a half. Clearly this staff has its priorities straight compared to the last staff. I am seriously blown away at this point, put star rankings aside, they are getting athletes here that will fit their system and help the team win. Frost and staff are really getting guys to buy in that will help the overall success of the team.
it's pretty crazy, but that's why frost just went undefeated and is getting paid almost twice what riley was making.

We currently have 18 commits plus two transfers.  We could sign 22.

Not sure we're taking a second QB now with Vedral on board and Tago not visiting last weekend.  Numbers are getting tight with four spots left.  Of course that also depend on the academic situations of Mapieu and Smith.  Mapieu is sounding better now.  Not sure where Smith is.

I would say we're for sure taking 1 OL (Bell seems likely) and 1 DB (Cam'ron Jones seems likely).  I think we'd take another DB if we can get the guys we want.  The last spot maybe being held for JJB or Tannor.

Here is a class calculator that you can play with on 247 if anyone is interested.

It's not showing what I had on my calculation, but it gives you a blank slate. I have no idea if you can copy/paste your prediction or class score, if you can I don't know how.

Ran the calculator based on adding the following players:

Jarrett Bell

Cam'ron Jones

Taiyon Palmer

Javontae Jean-Baptiste

Team Score:  224.89

That would put us around 20th ranked class.

Anybody have an idea on what the board might look like?

I'm speculating something like:

Plan A

OT - Bell

OL - Sampson

DB - Palmer

DE/OLB - JJB or Tannor

It seems like they really want a hybrid DE/OLB in this class, so if they don't get either JJB or Tannor, it looks like they'll go hard after Baldanado.

If they don't get one or more of the other three, I think they just try to get the next highest on their board regardless of position.  Just my opinion though.

Assuming the four spots left is correct, I think:

 - Bell commits Monday

 - We take two DBs.  Jones would seem to be one.  Palmer sounding like a long shot.  Clark, Torain and JUCO George would seem to be in the mix for the other spot.

 - We take an OLB with the last spot.  JBB or Tannor with Baldonado waiting in the wings.

Yup.

Looks good.  I didn't know where they were at as far as wanting OL.  I see where a Crystal Ball came in for Sampson to Western Michigan, so you may be right on the Bell commit and only taking 1 more OL.  Too bad on Palmer.  I wonder why it took so late in the process for his recruitment to blow up.  I was hoping since Clemson offered Goodrich that things might be looking good for N with Palmer.

Update on Moses Bryant. His coach says his situation is improving. Iowa and Neb still showing interest. IWCC would like him if doesn't qualify.
as much as I want Tazhawn Henry in this class I'd rather have Washington or Bryant.

Will be interesting to see if Bryant becomes eligible later on in the process and if we still have a scholarship open what he will do. I'm going to make a thread for him in the main board since it has sounded for a while now that the staff wants him if he qualifies.

So according to this:  http://dataomaha.com/documents/husker-scholarship-distribution we are at 77

8 freshmen signed and/or enrolled freshmen

12 redshirt freshmen

21 sophomores

19 Juniors

17 Seniors

They do not account for WR Mike Williams being in the class or Peyton Newell leaving.

5 players committed but not signed gets us to 82.  Mapieu may bring that down to 81

So they could sign up to 6-7 more to hit the 88 before 3 would have to leave, theoretically
