** 2019 Opponent Previews : Minnesota (Game 7) **

Sound like the gophers are preparing as if the game will be on Hoth.  Using frozen footballs, having qb/rb/wr dip their hands in ice water before drills, and pouring ice water down the players backs.
PJ Fleck is an idiot.

It is going to be 35 degrees with some light flurries. 14MPH winds/ 40% rain/snow mix.

I think Frost should practice a bit more, but honestly it seems a bit aggressive to pour ice water on guys...

Saturday will show up and half the team will be sick.

Is this for real?  If so, that sounds like it has NCAA player safety infractions written all over it

Exaggerated.  Fleck said they had the AC on at the indoor facility and got the temp down to a frigid 55 degrees.

For the record it's been 70-75 degrees in Minneapolis this week.  These guys aren't suffering.

Wonder if they share this info with their recruits? Does Minnesota have any official visitors for the Nebraska game? :D

"Gophers strength and conditioning coach Dan Nichol poured ice water on the players as they ran out for practice Tuesday, letting the cubes drip down their bare backs underneath their jerseys for most of the session." Star Tribune

The actual interviews don't mention the cold water, but Fleck does talk about other things they're doing that he wouldn't talk about before the game.

"We have all types of other things that we'll talk about after we get done playing."

Wonder if they'll still talk about them if Nebraska wins.

Its in your newspaper

Gophers strength and conditioning coach Dan Nichol poured ice water on the players as they ran out for practice Tuesday, letting the cubes drip down their bare backs underneath their jerseys for most of the session.

The receivers and quarterbacks dipped their hands into ice buckets before each series. The players handled frozen footballs, wet footballs. Gophers coach P.J. Fleck pumped up the air conditioning in the indoor facility, dropping the temperature as low as possible to around the high 50s.

Basically, the Gophers did everything short of renting a snow machine and giant fans to prepare the team for a potentially chilly game this weekend at TCF Bank Stadium.

Guess where these go. Fleck hitting the next level.

It's going to be 36 degrees at midnight that night. Using ice to prepare them seems stupid as hell. Even if some snow accumulates on the field it's not gonna be that cold.

Some of these kids are from Florida, Georgia, California where they think 60° is cold..  doesnt hurt to prepare

Remember when Clemsoning used to be a thing? Well, Minnesota is now in charge of that, we can call it "Flecking" and it can use it to describe anything inexplicably overly-gimmicky, kinda like Minnesota's entire football program.

It can hurt to prepare if what you're practicing under conditions that make it harder to practice and those conditions aren't even going to be present in the game.

I'm not saying I think it's a great idea.  But I can see the thought process of getting their hands cold - to simulate being out in the cold for a couple hours - then trying to catch a football.
