2020 CG Donovan Williams [Oklahoma State Commit]

Things that make you go hmmmmm

Saw some speculation that both sides are wanting a little more time to check the situation.  Williams wants to make sure how he fits in a new system with a completely different set of teammates.  Roster might be crowded at his position.

But another factor might be being able to have his entire family at the signing ceremony.  Bryson might not be able to be there during the early period.

On Nebraska's side, Hoiberg and staff never got to see him in person before he tore his knee.  They may be wanting to make sure what they are getting.  Especially since he doesn't fit the biggest needs - 3-point shooting and big men.

I will be curious to see how he reacts to Teddy Allen’s commitment. There are a LOT of combo guards/wings on next years roster as of now and Banton will be the primary ball handler outside of Mack.

Will he/should he redshirt anyways? With the injury and depth at the position already, was he expecting to redshirt :dunno :dunno

Thought about that too but I wonder if he really wants to? This is such an odd situation in that you want to keep him home to protect in-state and increase the NE presence on the roster, but at the same time he seems like an odd fit at the most crowded position on the roster and is coming off a fairly serious injury.

Plus thinking down the road a bit- he redshirts and say we land a guy like Sallis, no chance Williams is playing over him in 2021.

Listening to interview with Donavan.  He did not get his scholarship pulled.  Hoiberg did not try to talk to him in staying and he feels disrespected.  Im guessing no guaranteed playing time.
