For reference, here is the NCAA basketball tournament schedule for an eight-game day. Pretty similar it seems to me.
Now, that is the round of 32 compared to the Sweet 16, so it's not an exact comparison. But there are also days off between games for basketball, not for volleyball, which affects the schedule as well.
Louisville is the farthest-east host site and they drew the early time slot. I think it's pretty much that simple.
