2023 - 2024 Portal - Ins and Outs

It would be nice to get a decent QB early.  Then, it would be easier to convince a good WR to come here.  I was thinking someone like Toure or Palmer.  But, Lloyd showed he can stretch the field.  So, I really don't care if it's a speedy down field guy or a bigger receiver that can make plays in traffic.
This is dead on.  I think it'd help maybe secure one decent lineman too.

Hopefully we got of this mess soon and we don't have to worry about the portal.  Of course it'll always be there, but I think we are at the point where we "need" it.  It'd be nice to get away from that.

What happened to Chief Borders?  He was on all the accolades in fall camp and he hardly made the field at all.

Given they played so many people on D, that can't be a good sign for him.

Wasn't there injury issues?

That was my recollection - a couple guys played less down the stretch, and I expect many were due to injuries. The ones that weren't will probably clarify some things by entering the portal.

Getting Howard and then a younger guy who can compete with Kaelin down the road wouldn't be bad.
Howard is a slam dunk imo. He ticks every box for a QB we need. The only issue I have with him would be injury concerns, but if we have Howard and could get a younger QB and keep Purdy I would feel very secure in the QB room next year. I don't think we are going to attract a QB that is better than Howard.

"Matthew Sluka is going to be leaving Holy Cross after a very successful FCS career. He could be exactly what Matt Rhule and company need to run their offense the right way. The way that will finally get them over the hump and into a bowl game."
