** 2024 Opponent Preview : Purdue (Game 5) **

I take it blue is good and red is bad.

And I am reading it correctly that we have a 99% chance of winning?  That seems high not only for this game but for any game...
OK, but let's take Offensive Success Rate.  Dylan is completing around 70% of his passes.  But, the success rate is only around 38%.  That doesn't make sense to me.

Here is what google tells me Offensive Success Rate is:

Success rate is an advanced metric in football that measures efficiency, but with the important context of down and distance considered.

A play is defined as successful if:

  • It gains at least 50% of the yards required to move the chains on first down
  • 70% of yards to gain on second down
  • 100% of yards to gain on third or fourth down

To calculate success rate, simply divide the number of successful plays (as defined by down and distance above) by total plays.  It can be used for both offenses and defenses.

So just completing a pass isn't a "successful" play.  The completed pass has to obtain a certain amount of yardage.

I mean, this was his stat line in week 1:

Last two games:  18/41 for 180 yards, 2 TD's 3 INTs and a QBR of about 13.5

Hoping the defense dials up more blitzes this week. Get Card flustered and frustrated, flustrated.

On offense offensive line needs to take over the game. Move the line of scrimmage forward. Open those holes for Dowdell and company.

Right, but we were talking about the potential for an all American start against NU and our own worthless miracle.   As is tradition.

Was and still is struggling w plantar fasciitis. Tried for a few series (and struggled in coverage) and left the game in Q2 I think.  He’s day-to-day depending on ability to deal w pain.
Frankly, of the weeks he could miss, this one is probably second only to bye week in terms of "ideal"

I'm fully on the run the ball train, but it should be noted their last two opponents had QBs run for 100 and 66 yards while we won't be running the QB. It will be interesting to see if Purdue can stop the run better without a QB run threat.
