** 2024 Opponent Preview : Rutgers (Game 6) **

Looking at the stats from this game.  It looks like Rutgers had one thing going on offense.  Monangai had 135 yards rushing and one TD.  Other than that, nobody had more than 5 carries.  Their QB was only 14/24 for 115 yards and a TD.(58% completion rate)

It's almost like if you struggle on special teams you can lose to teams you should beat.
Yes.  I think the rest of the season is dependent on if the staff can figure out how to manage around the issues on ST.  Obviously, kicking through the endzone would take care of kick coverage.  Now, it will be interesting to see how they manage a 4th and 4 at the 23 yard line moving forward.

That's what makes me nervous. I still can't fathom why our special teams is so bad still but that's what it is right now.
Alabama, Texas, Georgia, Ohio State and 30 other teams are not going into games nervous about Special Teams.  They go into games thinking "How can we score touchdowns when and where-ever we get the ball?"

Huskers need to start scoring touchdowns.  Huskers need to start lighting up the scoreboard.  Aside from that and in addition to that,..... punts, coverage, returns and FG attempts is nice.

Want to win more?  Score more touchdowns

By golly, I think you've solved the game!  Why didn't anybody think of this before?

Highlights of the Rutgers vs Washington game.  Mostly positive plays on offense (thus the "highlights") but it does show some liability issues on defense (tackling issues and secondary coverage).

Bottom line - Rutgers was 7-15 on 3rd downs (including 1 failed 3rd down running out the clock on their final series).  So basically 50% which is very good.  Washington was just 2-12 on 3rd downs, and also missed 3 FG attempts.  Neither team turned the ball over.

Rutgers has 2 very good running backs, and Monangai ("mon-an-guy") is top 5 in country rushing.  He's a stud (see the 8 minute mark for one example).

Kaliakmanis has a strong arm and looks a lot better and more accurate than he was with Minnesota.  Plus he has wheels to scramble a bit.
